I listened to Finebaum for the first time ever on Monday (first show after loss to A&M) and it was radio gold. I might start listening to this on my way home each day on iheart instead the Lexington crap that’s out there.

If Ryan Harrow is out for a while, Cal will probably have to look pretty strongly at moving Archie over to full time PG. As much as I like Polson, he just doesn’t have the quickness or athletic ability to defend an elite point guard, as the Duke game demonstrated. Mays doesn’t have the athletic ability to guard opposing PG’s either – don’t know why Cal had him guarding Curry for much of the Duke game.
One benefit for Archie if this happens is that if he becomes a successful PG, it would probably raise his NBA stock. He may be a little undersized to play 2-guard in the league, and he has the necessary athletic ability to become an NBA PG with enough instruction.

12 Goodwin will be a 2 in the NBA…he has good size and skill for that position. But it would force him to become a better ball handler and passing threat, which would ensure him a top 10 pick, imo anyway

It’s sad when the guy deciding who your next football coach will be WASN’T AROUND YOUR PROGRAM BEFORE 2002.
I remember the late 70′s, 80′s and the 90′s (Fran Curci, Jerry Claiborne, Bill Curry, Hal Mumme). My Mom and Dad tell me about the 60′s and the 70′s (Blanton Collier, Charlie Bradshaw, John Ray), and my grandparents tell me about the 40′s and 50′s (A.D. Kirwan, Bernie Shivley, Bear Bryant).
Think of all the contributions my family & others have made over the years (not just ticket purchases, but Blue/White donations for lower level seats to bball & fball). All the road games we would drive to and support our team no matter the outcome.
Here we are on the cusp of potential, where an AD who didn’t even know what Blue Blood was 10 years ago, is going to make a decision for me and my family and the future generations of Wildcat Faithful. Who knows if he or his family will be here… but my family will be.
The Wildcat Faithful is a rare breed in today’s sports. How many programs have been so mediocre for so long yet continued to pack the stadium? No one understands it, but I only hope our message has been understood.
It’s almost unfair that 1 guy can either make the right move, steer our program into a certain oblivion or make the “safe” choice to protect his job.
Take a second to think about your job Mitch Barnhart. This isn’t about YOU!
Give the Wildcat Faithful of the Commonwealth a chance to get all those programs back for having been patient & supportive all these years.
Take the reduction in attendance this year as a MAJOR sign that “YOU” are on watch. A program who’s fans have always been behind it’s program and always continued to attend even during losing season even when we lost faith in it’s direction. This drastic measure so often taken by other programs fans as their first choice became hesitantly our only card left to play… and we held it back longer than any other programs fans that I can remember.
This was a direct message to “YOU”.
Get out of our way, make the decision that will give us a real chance, and by doing so you will be doing your job.
The biggest problem with the “Know Your Place” comments that Jones keeps dancing around has nothing to do with pecking order in coach selection. It’s that he’s REPEATEDLY, even well before this coaching search, made known that football does not deserve the same treatment as basketball and maintains the loser mentality that UK can never be more than 7 – 8 wins per year.
And yes Matt, we know – It’s your opinion and we disagree and …..give a freaking break.

I agree that it may be harder to win a Kentucky in football, however it is not impossible. South Carolina is a great example. Before Spurrier, they were similar to KY in a lot of ways. Yearly bottom dweller in East, not burning up the recruiting trail, and not taken seriously as a football school. Spurrier comes in, changes the culture and now they are a yearly contender in the SEC. It just goes to show you how big of an impact a coach can make. I don’t think we should settle for “we’re kentucky, we should be happy with being mediocre,” becuase that’s just not true.
And as far as recruiting, yea we don’t have the in state talent that others do, but what about WV, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas St. Just need somebody that can go get kids from other states.

Why is it, that people have such a hard time understanding what Matt is saying about WHERE UK is right now? People are getting all in a tizzy over THE TRUTH. I hope Harrow doesn’t have Mono or anything more serious. The effects of Mono don’t go away completely for a long time. Bronson Arroyo got it right before the 2011 season, and he didn’t recover fully the entire season. He still played, but he was pretty terrible. Harrow and this team might actually be better off if he has Mono to redshirt.

Anyone can get Mono at any age, but symptoms are much worse in your teens/early 20’s. It seems to hit teenagers the hardest. It doesn’t usually flare up more than once in your life.

Mono is deadly seriously…I had a friend in middle school whose spleen ruptured and she died. Still miss her to this day. So it requires no physical activity because your spleen is inflamed and cant take it
My son was diagnosed with mono a couple of weeks ago. The doctor pricked his finger and we knew within a few minutes that he had mono. If Harrow has mono wouldn’t we already know?

Mono is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus. That is why there isn’t a specific drug to fight it. Here is something from WebMD about strenuous physical activity when you have mono:

He’ll needlessly subject himself to a lot more physical and mental stress this year because of what Cal demands of his point guards. Don’t get me wrong- I want him to play this year. I just wouldn’t want him to risk it if he can’t get back to 95-100% because Cal demands 110%.
The number of off-field problems is a function of both the coach AND the school. It will not be a problem if the school does not allow it.
Louisville has always off-field problems, and they still do. That’s because the Louisville tolerates it – They even have a trustee that serves as players attorney.
The final decision on any disciplinary issue is always with the administration and not with the coach.

My fear is that Sonny Dykes looks so good because his team puts up big numbers on the scoreboard. Well, sure.. he’s a Hal Mumme guy. Mumme was balls to the wall, Air Raid offense. Kentucky scored under Mumme, but we weren’t a good team.
Sure, LaTech is scoring 53 points a game, but they’re giving up 35 points a game to the likes of Virginia, Rice, and Idaho. Texas A&M lit them up for 59…I’m afraid that’s what other teams would regularly score against a Sonny Dykes UK team.

If Harrow does have MONO I think his career might be in serious jeopardy. He already weighs 150 pounds and if he loses some weight from MONO then I just can’t imagine him making any impact this year. We obviously know that he will see very limited time next year (see Harrisons). We are recruiting Lyle, Jones (offer), Mudiay (offer) and Berry. It looks like Jones and Mudiay are the top options. I’m torn about Petrino, not because I’m a woman, but because I care about UK. He has burned bridges everywhere he has ever coached, so if UK hires him, I fully expect him to screw over the university at some point. On the other hand, I want to win as much as anyone. Personally, I would prefer a different coach than Petrino based on his placing his university in danger of lawsuits and his behavior with the volleyball player. However, if he is hired as our coach I will support him, keep my fingers crossed that he indeed is remorseful and has changed, and hope for the best for our football team.

Mono is common amongst college students. As for basketball players, I remember Duke’s Shavlik Randolph and Jon Scheyer had mono. They were fine in the end. No worries. Harrow will be back to full strength.
