Get Black and Blue for the Derby City Festival Classic

Contrary to this picture, they will not be re-playing last year’s game.

The 2008 Derby City Festival Basketball Classic gets underway this weekend and, as we’ve mentioned numerous times this week, there will be plenty of action on the recruiting front for the Cats.  Recruiting targets Ater Majok, Paul McCoy and Maurice Sutton are suiting up for the Black Team, along with two UK signees, Darius Miller and DeAndre Liggins.  The black team will be coached by Mason County’s Chris O’Hearn

The Gold team features two Louisville signees, Terrance Jennings and Jared Swopshire, as well as McDonald’s All-Americans Mike Rosario and Luke Babbitt . The Gold squad will be coached by Mark Lieberman of Opa Locka, Fla.  But, do we really care?  The black is really were it’s at.  Here are the full rosters:

The festivities will kick off Friday but won’t matter because you will be at the first night of the Barnstorming Tour.  But, if you choose poorly and attend Friday’s Derby City events, then you will catch a dunk contest, a three-point shootout and a 2-on-2 tournament.  The game will be Saturday at 7 pm at Freedom Hall.  Tickets are $10 and $15 and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.

Go black.
