Georges Niang says Noel to Georgetown

Who is Georges Niang, you ask?

Niang played alongside Nerlens Noel at Tilton High School this past season. He’ll be playing for Fred Hoiberg at Iowa State next year and the future Cyclone has an idea where his high school teammate will be playing as well. Niang was asked on Twitter this morning where he thinks Noel will play college ball, and he responded with a simple, “gtown.”

So there ya go.

Georges Niang said gtown. On Twitter. To someone he’s never met.

Read into that however you’d like.

Whatever happens we have no right to be upset or even disappointed.

We just won a national championship and we already have good players committed. In Calipari we trust. I’m happy right now, no matter what these kids decide, and I wish them both the best.

The thing that keeps coming back to me is the fact that Coach Cal will be interviewed on the ESPiN show that Shabazz and Noel will be announcing their decisions. So, either he is doing ‘damage-control’ or UK is getting at least one of these young men. ALSO, has any else noticed that several of these decision processes are very similar and year-to-year so? I mean there’s some inherent similarities but it seems several of these kids’ decisions have followed the same ‘path’ specifically including the start broad, narrow it down to five, then three, then one. This way any decision you make will be a good one. There just seems to be more consistency there than would exist in completely random decisions. It certainly does not look good for BBN and UK but…we already have three incredible recruits and will certainly get more. Just, maybe not the top two.

We’ve been spoiled. Missing on both not the end of the world. We’ll have a solid sophmore class to team with the blockbuster 2013 class Cal will assemble.

I’m not optimistic about Noel, but his high school teammate doesn’t know what Noel is going to do. Noel hasn’t been at Tilton for a week or more playing at various events all star events, and he has been at home in Boston for the last day or two to discuss recruitment with his family. So although the teammate may turn out to be correct, I don’t believe it’s from any inside information. Noel has been keenly interested in Georgetown for awhile, a fact known to BBN and the Tilton community.

Do these recruits know something we don’t? Fresh off a championship is the best time to get recruits and Cal isn’t getting either of these guys? Will future recruits want to play for a man who couldn’t even get these two guys 10 days since a championship? Cal said he cared more about getting kids drafted than winning a title, but now he goes back on his word and wins a title. Not looking good in Lexington anymore…

This is nothing like last year!

MKG- Committed a year in advance

Davis- UK was dream school. The story came out UK payed him 250,000 weeks before he committed so it was obvious he was coming here.

Kyle: Committed out of no where. He wasn’t even on our radar.

Teague: Was a UofL lean the whole time, Cal got him at the very end!

This year we have been in on Shabazz and Noel for years and they still picked other schools! I think something is up. Cal is leaving for the NBA or we are getting ready to be in some type of NCAA trouble.

I seriously doubt that we get either one of these kids. I trust Cal but we’re looking at a down year (by Kentucky standards). Just hate that we’ll probably lose to Indiana and Louisville next year. Depressing, but we just won the national championship so that’s ok!

If UK was going to get in trouble…the recruits wouldn’t know about it. The only people who would know are Coach, Athletic Director and NCAA,.. and possibly some sneaky reporters. I doubt a coach would tell recruits, who he went to visit day or two after winning championship (remember Cal went out west to watch Nba game and went to Nevada to see Noel).

Noel and Shabazz were either promised something in return (not money or benefit related) to going to Gtown/UCLA or they see a reduced amount of playing time and want high numbers and only high numbers. Shabazz may like the UCLA lifestyle, and Noel being from Nevada may like the city of DC over Lexington if he wants to go to Gtown.

Think about it…there is more to choosing a school than basketball. If they are as good as they think and people say, they wont need to learn much, play at 90% effort and will succeed. Going to UK they will be the focus and have to succeed, whereas going to Gtown or UCLA no pressure is on them and they still leave for Nba top 5 picks.

I say we get one of the 2 guys and pick up one of the remaining top recruits in a couple weeks when the Nba deadline passes.

On a side note, i checked out his twitter page and the tweet has been deleted and he has zero “interactions” w/ Noel of the past couple weeks, so im not sure how close the two are. I can remember our last “down year” leading to a final four so I’m good with that. Not getting either one of these guys could be a blessing, as far as team chemistry and things like that. Cal has always said UK is not for everyone if you want to play and shoot 30 shots then UK is not for you. You want to be “the man” then Uk is not for you, so if these guys go somewhere else maybe thats better.

  95. Carlisle1974

I know I’m biased, but I just don’t see the attraction of playing at UCLA or G’town. Let’s face it, neither of these kids are picking a school based on academics. It’s strictly about getting to the League as soon as possible. No one has a better recent track record than Calipari.

For UCLA, this isn’t the ’60’s. They have zero buzz around the program. Howland has run whatever he was building into the ground in an awful PAC 12 conference. Their style of play isn’t very attractive and the PAC12 has an awful TV contract.

For G’town, this ain’t the 80’s or early ’90’s. They haven’t developed any real big man talent since Mutombo and Mourning. I don’t consider Hibbert and Monroe in that category. JT3 hasn’t really proven he can consistently get guys into the League.

If they choose either of these 2 programs, they will instantly be the best player on the team and focal point of everything. At UK, they would be highly talented cogs in an already talented machine. Perhaps they are more interested in being “The Man”, instead of being one of the guys? Different strokes for different folks, I guess…but it would be an easy decision for me. Seems like the allure of playing at college basketball’s “it” school with the game’s hottest coach would be too much to pass up.

No doubt Noel got mad at Georges for spoiling his moment! More then likely he asked him to do some damage control and say that it was just his opinion!

    Noel to G-Town
    Bazz to UCLA
    Cal to Knicks
    Bobby Petrino to Saints
    Matt Jones to Middlesboro

Just have to wait and see! Serioulsy, I think Bazz to UCLA is a done deal mostly by his father. Noel has struggled with his decision and in the end G-Town seems a more secure place for him. Don’t blame the kids for choosing! It does hurt when you have the rep of sending players to the NBA, winning NCAA Championships and tons of playing time to offer – plus the style of play! If this does not win the kids over–they just wanted to go somewhere else- period. No one gets all the great players every year. Let’s wait and see what happens. UK will be UK no matter what!!!

Well, there’s one thing for sure and two things for certain: regardless of where either one goes, IT AIN’T GONNA BE LOUISVILLE.

#77, please go kill yourself. You’re an embarrassment to not only the white race, but society, humanity, and BBN. Have your cousin/wife help you if you want, but just go do it.

kentucky will be a good team regardless if noel and shabazz don’t come. Amile Jefferson is not that good, don’t really care for him. if lamb and teague stay and maybe get bennett we’ll still be top 5 just not as dominant on the defensive end.

Newsflash: we are losing 7 or our top 8 players from this year’s team. Wiltjer is the only returning player with significant PT. Teague, Lamb, Miller, Vargas, MKG, Davis, and Jones are ALL gone. It’s a fact, we just have to wait till they formally announce. I used to be an assistant strength coach on the team and I was told earlier today by one of the players who is leaving this year.

We have 3 recruits and 7 open spots!! In Cal I trust…but it’s hard to trust right about now…

One week removed from the first national championship in 14 years, and the fanbase is losing it over one recruit. Wish I could say I was surprised, but I’m not.

Regardless of where these kids decide to play, I hope the BBN will do the right thing and wish them good luck. Don’t go banging on a kid because he chooses to play somewhere else. Hell when I took my ACT I sent the score to Hawaii just to see if I could get a visit out of them. You never know what is driving a kid. Stay Classy BBN

Either 1.) They’re a bunch of useless trolls out in full force today or 2.) Some of you so-called fans are absolute morons. Chill the hell out…sure, it’d be nice to land Bazz and Noel, but if we don’t, we will be alright in the end. That doesn’t mean if they choose to go elsewhere, then some of u should show your asses. Show some class. We just got #8, and Cal isn’t about to put the brakes on. He’ll make sure we are right back in contention for next season. So chill out, and let’s see how it all unfolds..

No way are people freaking out or that concerned about next years class these are trolls just trying to rile people up.

I am sure there is a lot of people conspiring trying to keep these two recruits away from UK as they are scared if that happened it would set an unbelievable dominance which would be impossible to overcome. Even if these two do not go to UK there are others lining up to give us a top class.

Not worried here no matter what the night brings.
