We have our first real upset of the tournament as the Florida Gators got beat….badly at the hands of the Tide. At the beginning of the season, most thought that the Tide were a contender in the SEC West and had the potential to make a strong run in the Tournament. Then of course Mark Gottfried began to actually put his handprint on the team and they went directly to pot. But for the first fifteen minutes of the first half, Alabama looked like a world beater and showed Florida the way to the NIT. From NCAA Champion to an NIT berth….understandable considering the turnover on the roster, but still a precipitous fall.
Louisville also went down tonight, losing to Pitt for the third straight year in the Big East Tournament. Rick Pitino goes to New York and bad things happen folks.
The Florida cheerleading squad was very interested in the “Ab” contest with Macon Vol Fan….one girl especially marveled that a “belly could be that hairy.”
Al Horford in the crowd tonight….I am certain he could beat me up.
Gillispie and the coaches taking lots of notes….bet the other teams are scared of what they say….
Real quick recruiting tidbit from tonight….spoke to part of the UK brigade who told me, “the staff wants Josh Harrellson very badly and are really hoping to make it happen.” Most also believe that Flemings and Jones are backup plans to Scotty Hopson, who is option #1 for the staff….
Time for Georgia-Ole Miss…..place your bets on the Cats next opponent….
