GameDay Vote!

You may have heard us mention that ESPN’s College GameDay crew is currently polling fanbases to see where they’ll film a commercial on campus this summer.  Well, believe it or not, we’re not winning.

Currently, the leaderboard is as follows:

You’ll see Texas A&M is in the lead with a whopping 63,565 votes, while Kentucky has tallied just 3,018, good for 25th place.  I gotta admit, I’m surprised by our low turnout.  Seriously, East Carolina has double the votes that we have.  I’m not saying we have to win, but surely we can do better than this, right?  I know this is a football poll (it’d have to be to get Arkansas and South Carolina interested), but BBN is known for dominating online polls like they’re Memorial Coliseum.  Let’s not make this an exception.  I’d at least like to beat 5th place West Virginia, which currently has 16,857.  That’s not so much to ask, and rest assured I’ll be voting every day to see it happen.

Head on over and vote here, and keep voting once a day until they won’t let you anymore.  We can’t let people think that UK’s historical reign of dominating online polls is over.  It’s gonna take a village, but we can each do our part.

Go Cats.

Edit: Fixed the link.

Maybe it’s because the link doesn’t work. I’ve been there several times in the past couple of weeks. No wonder we’re losing an online poll. They finally figured out how beat BBN!

Why would we invite a college football tv show on campus? That would be like inviting someone over to your house for dinner and serving them the worst food in the city. The University of Kentucky has many sports programs to be proud of but football is a joke.

We can all still continue to support our team but there is absolutely no reason to give them any sort of national recognition at all.

Agree with 3. Love my Cayuts, but I’m also a football fan. And as a football fan, I can’t possibly vote for UK to get College Gameday, and subsequently a prime time, nationally televised game. It’s just not right and is taking away from a potentially great game for the nation to see. We fans may make the Gameday show itself entertaining, but the game would probably ruin it.

That said, I hope the team surprises us this year. I really, really want to be surprised. Just a little. Is that asking too much?

Looks like our history of dominating online polls was over when Cal lost out to Huggy Bear in the Infinity Challenge. That really both surprised me & aggravated me.

don’t forget, the reason they shut down this vote the first time was because a Texas A&M alum with connections to NC State, had created a script to constantly submit votes for the two schools at an astronomical rate. At one point the two schools had 300,000+ votes and third place had 20,000. Maybe he just set the script to a more believable pace, but I don’t buy it for a second. I’m a TAMU alum myself, and College Station has a population of less that 100,000. To already have over 60k is ridiculous.

Ummmmm, in order to vote, the link requires one to have a farcebook account.

Consequently, if one does NOT have a farcebook account, one can not ‘vote’.

    Therefore, the voting is skewed.

    And, we lose.

Thanks for the heads up 9. I can actually see this being beneficial then, maybe a recruit or two will notice a good commercial. Count me in for a vote.

#23, Why do you even read this website if you vote for Texas A&M? There are many students that practice hard on the UK football team. Voting for anyone other than UK is pathetic. Maybe UK can hold an open practice in June and you can attend and run the ball one time. Critcize yourself, not the BBN!

No wonder we’re losing. You have to have Facebook to vote and real men don’t use Facebook.

To answer the questions for those of you who can’t seem to read. Vote totals are updated once a day. So when you vote it doesn’t change the numbers until 12 noon EST.
And while nc state & A&M used scripts to tally up over 600k before the poll change, FSU was the one who crashed it with over 1mil votes cast overnight for a bot. The requirement of a Facebook account and using CAPTCHA words prevents that cheating from happening.
Texas A&M and Nebraska leading the poll shouldn’t be surprising at all. Both have hugely enthusiastic fan bases and are known to dominate polls, especially Texas A&M.
