University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

Friday’s Saturday Notes

A few quick notes to round up what was a surprisingly busy-ish Friday around Cat-land. Off we go.

–As you’re probably familiar, TMZ ran a sort of story that said “the NCAA is taking an aggressive look” into the dealings of some former and current Kentucky players and professional agents. What had some people (mostly rival fans) worked up earlier has more or less produced nothing of real substance over the course of the day. Despite TMZ insinuating to the contrary, there is no investigation, at least according to reports that Kentucky has not been informed of any inquiry. The local media picked up on the story, but the national media said little, although Jeff Goodman tweeted that “the NCAA is looking into Enes Kanter,” and whatever that means it’s not exactly groundbreaking news either way. In the end, despite a random foray into the world of the Big Blue that had some folks in a tizzy, TMZ has taught us basically nothing today. Except Tiger’s wife is getting a cool $100 million. That’s something.

–It didn’t take long to find a successor for Steve Ortmayer, as former Cat Greg Nord will be his replacement. He comes from the University of Illinois where he coached the running backs and was the recruiting coordinator. Ortmayer said he was surprised by his being let go, but it certainly didn’t take long for Joker to find the man to fill the void.

–There are multiple reports that Scott Padgett will be taking a position as an assistant at Manhanttan College. Barry Rohrssen is the head coach of the Jaspers, who were 11-20 last season. Padgett will follow in the line of Kentucky players to associate with Manhattan, a list that includes Shagari Alleyne and may include someone else.

–And a bit of recruiting news to top it all off. Royce White, the Minnesota defect and rumored Kentucky recruit, will most likely not be lending his services to the Cats this fall. Details aren’t plentiful but he apparently is likely to find his way to Iowa State and a recruit which some folks had reservations about goes elsewhere.

That basically covers it for the day. Have a safe holiday and make sure to check in over the weekend for all the ridiculousness your heart can desire. Until then…
