Four Bat Cats Selected in the MLB Draft

It’s hard to keep up with the enormous MLB Draft, but as loyal fans of the Big Blue we have to know how our Bat Cats fared. Former Kentucky Mr. Baseball, 2nd basemen JT Riddle was selected yesterday by the Miami Marlins as the #382 overall selection in the 13th round. Pitcher Jerad Grundy was a 10th round selection by the Oakland A’s, improving his selection from 26th to 10th by returning for his Senior season. Former Tates Creek standout Trevor Gott earned himself a 6th round selection from the San Diego Padres. Corey Littrell’s 5th round selection by the Boston Red Sox gives the Wildcats 3 pitchers drafted this year.

Even though the season may have spun out of control towards the end, the players’ are proving that you can still improve at UK to achieve your MLB dreams. These last 4 selected increase UK’s number of draft picks to 55 since 2006.

MLB loves the Marlins Farm System is is the best in the Game. For the players you get to the majors and if you are any good get traded to a better team within a year. What is not to like?

Tanner Norton from Bishop Brossart High School in Alexandria, KY was also drafted in the 13th round by the Milwaukee Brewers

Our two top recruits, both from Kentucky were drafted as well. Clinton Hollon, a RHP out of Woodford County went 47th overall to the Blue Jays. Hunter Green, a LHP from Warren East, went #59th overall to the Los Angeles Angels. Both second round picks. Probably not coming to UK.
