Former UofL player suing Charlie Strong

Former Louisville football player Patrick Grant is suing UofL and Charlie Strong for asking him to cover up an attack by two of his teammates. The alleged incident took place on the night of October 24, 2010, when Grant was sitting in the locker room at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. According to the lawsuit, Grant’s teammates Jacob and Isaac Geffrad attacked him, beating him so badly “he required immediate, urgent care and nearly lost his left eye, the bones around it being fractured.”

Grant also claims that on the way to the hospital, the team’s trainer told him “to lie and cover up the fact that the injuries were at the hands of his teammates.” Out of fear, Patrick told the doctor that he injured his eye on a locker door after horsing around with teammates. Grant claims that Charlie Strong promised he would keep him on scholarship and then proceeded to cancel it without letting him know. When Grant called Strong to discuss the matter, Strong “simply ended the call and hung up the phone,” according to the lawsuit.

None of that violated any of Strong’s core values, so it’s all good, right?

holy shit. even if the truth is somewhere between the two sides of the story, that’s pretty crazy.

Not surprising. You can’t possibly have any morals and work in that cess pool of an athletic department.

I think Strong is smart enough to have kept him on scholarship if this was true. He would have known the kid would have ratted him out.

How odd. This has yet to be reported by the Courier-Journal, yet it’s all over the internet. That’s so unlike them to not print potentially damaging stories against the University of Louisville.

6)That is how I would want the local newspaper to handle it. Unlike the LHL that jumps at every chance to spill the beans on its own sports teams.

Jurich is running UL like he is the head of the mafia; intimidation & financial kickbacks to UL boosters for building the Yum Center: this crazy fool thinks he is the Don. UK & UL Jefferson County taxpayers really need to look at the political & financial fraud going on with the Yum Center; UL is making a ton of money & the taxpayers are paying the bills.

I can’t see how this sounds like a kid trying to make a buck. To me it sounds like a kid who got all of his ducks in a row before making it public so he can show how Strong and the athletic dept screwed him over. Suffering serious injuries at the hands of your teammates and then losing a scholarship ended his football career, why wouldn’t he want justice?

I have a feeling this will be settled out of court very quietly and this kid gets his scholarship back. This amounts to another 15 seconds of bad publicity for UL.

USA Today has it as a story on their main page. Can’t be a good night for the turtle. This reminds me of when ole Mayor Stansbury was shacked up in New Orleans when the city fireman went on strike. This sounds like another fire to be put out and everyone’s in New Orleans again!

So. Pitino tells us that his players don’t care about kentucky at all, its just another game. Well sir, why then is Gorgi Deing pleading with Andrew Wiggins to NOT sign with Kentucky? I think that Deing isn’t showing much respect for Wiggins future by giving him such selfish advice.
