Former Kentucky target Troy Williams set to pick Indiana

Former Kentucky target Troy Williams is set to commit to Indiana, according to Jeff Rabjohns of Rivals.com. At one point in April, Williams was down to Kentucky and North Carolina as his final two schools. It was generally assumed that Calipari asked him to wait and then both Kentucky and Williams began focusing on other places. Williams expanded his list and recruitment, and it appears as if Bloomington will be his destination. Calipari and his staff shifted their focus to James Young and Andrew Wiggins. Scout ranks Williams as the #42 prospect in the class of 2013.

Williams is a good player and he’ll succeed at Indiana. Likely a pro. I think it became kind of clear that he wasn’t quite the elite talent that was originally thought. Happens a lot.

He was never going to pick UK. He was a backup plan to young and wiggins. Cal wouldn’t have taken his commitment.

The guy is a top 50 player so he is a really good player. Good get for Indiana but may not contribute much his first year! I believe we could use a players like this but it’s hard to get them when ur class is full of top 15 players! Oh well! 🙂

Anybody else watch the game over the summer between the Houston Defenders (Andrew & Aaron Harrison) and Boo Williams (Cat Barber & Troy Williams)?

The twins absolutely embarrassed two other highly ranked players on their way to a blowout victory, to the point that Troy Williams felt compelled to tweet about how the game really didn’t matter in an attempt to save face.

Have fun with our rejects Indiana.

Nice athlete. Needs to work on shooting. Get stronger too. Not a bad pickup for Hoosiers

6–as i was following his recruitment this past spring/summer on rivals, they never showed UK offering to him.

If Cal didn’t offer (he didn’t) then we’ve lost nothing. I’m not sure this qualifies as news around the BBN.

He is a good “Team” player and would have fit in well at UK. He will be a good 4 year player for IU, but not a one and done player. He might get a chance in the NBA, but not a superstar.

If Crean continues to pick up our left overs, IU will be pretty good for a while. What Cal is doing involving recruiting, is the ultimate mark of excellence that UK deserves.

Williams will be a nice 3-yr player for IU. Too bad Cal is scared to play the Hoosiers.. would have liked to see Williams torch some Wildcats..

These are high school kids, some ones child. Some of you come across as classless, at the least. UK fans should be show more class than some of our rivals!

Good luck to the young man.
Some are saying he wouldn’t be a superstar freshmen or top draft pick after his first season.

So – IU is proving success can be obtained by building a program around three and four year players. I really wish UK fans would get that IU game this year. They’d be forced to admit that there’s more than one way to be successful in college basketball.

IU fan, you need to remember your side is the one that stop talkin about it bc they didnt wanna play in Indy…not the UK side. Sounds like to me they were scared to play away from their home court bc they know even in Indy more UK fans would be there than IU.

It’s our fault we aren’t playing iu, we should be playing number 1 in rupp this year. Not fair to season ticket holders or any fans really to have Baylor as the best home game. SEC has 3 or 4 decent teams each year, not enough for a team like uk. We had a chance to get a top level team in here every other year and we blew it.

LOL at the old “we stopped recruiting him” pitch. Seriously, that is getting old on KSR. Any recruit that doesn’t pick UK, wasn’t wanted anyway. Real mature, Ally.
