Florida State’s D.J. Eliot coming to Kentucky, too?

Man, Florida State is really going to hate us by the end of all this. FootballScoop.com is reporting that Mark Stoops is attempting to lure Florida State defensive ends coach D.J. Eliot to UK as well, likely as the new defensive coordinator. Hold your tomahawks, because it’s not a done deal yet.

Is Lexington becoming Tallahassee North?

Wow.. the formula for success at ky all along was to simply steal the entire coaching staff of an already successful football program. lol

Now if we can just steal some of their players, and get our engineers to figure out a way to move that stadium…….and maybe the Florida weather……..

I moved to Kentucky from Tallahassee and have been contending for years that Lexington already is Tallahassee North; the cities are so similar, it’s uncanny…so, TT, your question only makes sense.

@3 i agree 100% Jimbo is heading to knoxville if Gruden turns the job down but right now i think those are the only two possibilities for that job. Been hearing a lot latley that Jimbo isnt happy with what is going on with FSU right now

If this turns out to be true, it could be HUGE. Read up on Eliot and it’ll get your excited. The guy is young, knows his stuff, and has ties to people like Stoops, Fisher, Muschamp. Guy is a winner and would improve our D-line astronomically. He turned the RICE D-line into a force, think what he could do with SEC talent. Not to mention his FL, TX ties, and is apparently a heck of a recruiter.

    GO CATS! Get him here!

#8 I hope the staff has at least one or 2 Kentucky connections. We need to at least attempt to sign the couple of D-1 prospects out of KY each year and not just toss in the towel and allow them to go to UofL. I’d like to see Mike Summers stay on staff and maybe keep Jarmon or Woodson in some capacity.

8 – pretty sure we can stop dreaming that Brown is coming here. Your setup is great, but I can’t see it. Sounds like Coley will be the man for the OC. Can’t imagine he’d leave FSU for a lateral move to UK (no offense).

Still think Coley would be a good get for OC.

Word on street is Chuck Smith is a leading candidate for the Morehead St. job last I heard. Also hear French may want to retire at Boyle County? Smith could always go back there. He’s put out feelers to KY high schools. Always thought he’d be considered for the St. X opening.

3- – NEAl Brown is not coming to UK.

He is from Boyle Co. and played under the Mummie Regime.

    Here are his credentials:

    Massachusetts (TE coach)
    Sacred Heart (QB/WR coach)
    Delaware (WR coach)
    Troy (WR coach)
    Troy (OC/QB coach)
    Texas Tech (OC/QB coach)

Right now he is currently making $790,000 per year. UK would have to offer him close to a million, and we aint doin that.

believe me there isnt many fsu fans that would be too upset to see these guys leaving especially after the way BB was pushed out and the slow results we are having. Jimbo and his entire staff have done an ok job at fsu but considering the talent that has come through, we are not doing as well as hoped. FSU gets spanked anytime they play a ranked team outside of the ACC and at times not so good inside the crappy ACC either.

be careful what yo ask for or you just might get our whole mediocre staff. Just dont take our football players.

  45. So/so hire
    2:26 pm November 29, 2012 Permalink

Why do some want to keep Summers? I just don’t get it. Our OL was a BIG disappointment under his guidance. Every QB we played last year got hurt because we where unable to protect them. Then some say because he can recruit? News flash our recruiting suck the last 3 years. When you look at the others schools recruiting our players and they’re from the MAC that should tell the tale.
The only coaches that should be considered are Woodson, Jarmon, and Smith. Woodson and Jarmon because their roles where minor. The linebackers where the only bright spot on the team the last 3 years. Smith actually is a capable coach.i think Stoops will clean house and that’s fine too. Let him bring in his own people.

  46. Chuck
    2:37 pm November 29, 2012 Permalink

I think we need someone to teach our WR’s how to catch the damn ball, it seems like they have some athletic ability but cannot hang onto the ball, I don’t know if it’s a technique thing or they just can’t catch. Maybe that’s why we get some of the WR’s from Florida, Georgia, and Alabama, because those schools get the WR’s that are fast AND can catch the ball and leave us the ones that are just fast?

    6:39 pm November 29, 2012 Permalink

#58 one of us must have been watching the wrong games I guess. I though our line play sucked the last 3 years. I think it was a horrible decision to replace heggins who had UK’s line playing at the highest level I’ve seen UK have. The only 2 coaches who I seen shine the last 3 years was Chuck Smith who had just a wonderful run with the LB’s. I think there is very few who would argue that, and Rock Oliver who is one of the Best strength coaches in sports period. I know rock works with the basketball team too. Is he listed as a BB or FB I’m not sure. That said with the exception of Oliver I say fire them all. To much bad MOJO going on here just change the whole lot of them
