Florida opens as 23.5 favorite against Kentucky

As we’ve already discussed a bit here today on KSR, the road does not get any easier for the Kentucky Wildcats moving forward this season. Kentucky will travel to the Swamp this weekend to play the Florida Gators, who are coming off a big win against Tennessee yesterday. Florida opens as a 23.5 favorite over Kentucky. Buckle up, folks.

Look for Muschamp to have a scaled down game plan where UF still easily wins, but probably not as bad as we think it will be. This is a sandwich game for UF as we are after UT and before LSU.

We see the issues and were not studing film for days, like the coaches. You wonder why these havent been corrected after 2 games.
1.) The defense isnt attacking, they wait until the offensive player makes their move, then waits for them to come to them, in the meantime, they get an additional 3 or 4 yards. Even when the linebakers get the read correct and are in position.
2.) Do we ever mix things up on defense? Have we blitzed?
3.) We cant tackle and thats been a 3 year issue. We had Western stopped for a loss several times, but we didnt get the tackle because we didnt wrap up
4.) I saw Max Smith yell at both Boyd and (brain freeze) the receiver from E-town for not finishing a route and 1 caused an interception.
5.) The tackles are soooo out of shape that Mr Cobble and Rumph were severally sucking wind early in the game. 6 foot and 330 come on, tell me hes in shape.
6.) Coaching up the players hasnt occured. Since 2009, 80 % of Westerns players have been rated 2 star or lower, by Rivals.
7.) 3 personal fouls are unexcusable……………. who`s fault is this, player control.
8.) Depth on defense……………we have none. We`re missing 3 players from last year and we drop off as though were starting over………never should happen.

The only way the score is that close is if they start and play their 3rd string the entire game. Even then, I’m thinking at least a 4 TD spread. I’m generally not for firing a coach mid-season, but this is the worst I’ve seen a UK team since I was at UK during the Curry years.

Man that’s tempting. But then it’s supposed to be. I can see FL putting big numbers up on us because basically we have no defense. They will run the ball down our throats. That will actually hold down the score though. So you’ll have 2 teams playing ball control, 1 by short passing, the other by running. If FL takes it easy on us, I can see them playing UL’s game, just let us make our 400 yards but no scoring. If we do score, FL will just match it. I’m gonna say the Cats cover by staying within 21.

    Ps.

Watching the game last night with some relatives, 1 a big UL fan. He was cheering UK on louder than we were. I asked him what was up with that. He told me that he didn’t want UK to pull down their SOS anymore. True story. Pathetic story.

I keep looking at KSR anticipating the “Joker has been fired” thread…I hope it is sooner than later.

And, I just want to know where all the Joker apologists are now. You know, the ones who whined the last year or so and would come on here and post comments attacking people for not being fans, but never offering ANY football discussions when offered…WHERE ARE YOU? Are you big enough people to just admit you were wrong? Of course not…cowards.

Mitch needs to pull the trigger now. He needs to cut his losses and throw down the gauntlet. If he wants any of our fan support to return, he has to show that he has some kind of level of concern about this situation…or the stadium will remain empty and millions of $$ will continue to be lost.

I`ve been a Wildcat fan since the 60`s. If you ever think we will compete in the SEC your only kidding yourselves. It isnt the current AD`s fault either. We have had several before him and will have several afterwards and it will continue to be the same until the Administration atitudes are changed.
Look at every football coach we have had over the years and all have had 500 or sub records. We showed, in the fifties, where we stand on sports. When Rupp was given his Cadlilac and The Bear was given a watch. When Rupp said this town isnt big enough for you and me and I`m not going anywhere.
Put 10 million into the football facilities, give football a recruiting room, an updated locker room, new practice facilities. Then gauge the recruiting.
We should have hired Howard in the 80`s but the admin was afraid of him. Afraid he would upset the basketball “people”, turn the page on football. So we didnt hire him, U of L did and look what we did for them. Turned the page.

There is a lot of talk going on with some comments ‘true’ some “false”. #19 is right-your kidding yourselves if we can probably ever get to where we compete for the SEC. Fans with these message board comments are only setting us back farther than we are now with “redneck” comments and the ones that preach probably have never played the game before. Get back on your gargage truck in the morning and keep talking—at the end of the day Joker will be worth a lot more than any of us!!!!!!

    21. I think by competing, most of us mean being able to beat a couple of SEC teams a year. We’d like to do as well as Vandy, maybe even Mississippi State. For goodness sakes, we should at least be able to compete within our state. We aren’t asking to be Alabama.

I’m with another commenter’s sentiment: I’d be tempted to take Florida -23.5.

    In the first quarter.

St. X and Trinity could give this year’s team a game. I really hate to be one of those naysayers spouting off all the negative stuff that we know the team doesn’t want to see, but it is what it is. I’m sure Joker’s a great guy and he’s a classy coach; that doesn’t mean he’s an SEC caliber coach.

All I can say is that someone with the sobriquet of “Big Pappa” is more than likely trying to make up for some sort of physical deformity or limitation. Especially in the genitalia area *cough*small dick*cough*. But that’s just speculation, and rumor.

He is right about 1 thing though…Joker is well paid to run this cluster fox trot. So he can prolly be counted on to do the right thing and resign, right Big Pappap*snicker*. Sorry, don’t know what came over me. The idea that Joker would resign, or calling another man “Big Pappa*snicker* Okay…now I know.*laughing out loud at “Big Pappa”*

As a Parent of a player,Wish I would have paid attention to how the UK Football fans act before my son decided to come play here. He is in his 2nd year and the negativy by fans is a Cancer. The fan base doesnt even know what it wants. All I know is my son choose to come to the #BBN, he cried when he signed. These are teenagers and young men you are booing and kicking while they are down. For those that want Petrino as coach, I wont allow my son to play for someone with no values or morals, he will transfer.

I’ve already conceded to the failure of the program, but I honestly feel sorry for those players going forward. Getting beat is one thing, getting humiliated is another, time after time, which is what I fear will happen in conference. The only thing that will prevent Fl from putting up 70 on this defense is them calling off the dogs. But this spread is nothing.

As a life long UofL fan, I can readily empathize with most of the comments on this site since last night’s game. Especially #33.

There is nothing worse than watching a football program, after years of futility and then years of very hard work, raise itself beyond its history, then be handed off to a coach incapable of maintaining the success. Even worse, the new coach dramatically reducing the performance to the point of absurdity. It happened to us under Kragthorpe and now its happening at UK. Both Kragthorpe and Phillips are inherently likable people, but neither is capable of being a head coach.

The fans dilemma is to bail on the team or not. I had friends cancel season tickets — voting with their wallets hoping to force UofL’s hand in firing Kragthorpe. I had other friends attend games, but boo constantly. And I had friend that enthusiastically supported the players despite their coaches failings.

There is no easy answer. But what happened at UofL was unfair to the players. They weren’t prepared, they were not put in a position to succeed. Their coaches failed them. And they had to play in front of empty seats and hostile fans. This is unfair to the players despite the justified vitriol due to the coaches.

It got better at UofL. I hope it gets better at UK. The rivalry is at its best when both schools teams are at their best (regardless of the sport).

#33 I pay for my ticket and I’ll boo if I want and just because you son plays or not you have no right to tell me other wise. I suggest you tell your son not to read to comment section on fan sites! If the players are concerned about what anyone else outside the program thinks then we are in trouble anyway. What do you mean by the fan base doesn’t know what we want? Isn’t obvious, we want a new coach.

After witnessing Saturday’s game in person, Florida will destroy us. 23.5 points, might as well triple that number. Jokers a nice guy, maybe that’s his problem. He can recruit, but he’s not a head coach. Spend some money Mitch and get a coach, not petrino he has no morals.
