Seems high to me…especially with Yguette (SP?) being out. UK has a big interior size advantage here. Florida can’t afford a bad 3-pt shooting night. I’ll go ahead and say the Cats win tomorrow night. I think they’re gonna play pretty good. I have to agree with Cal, the team seems to play much better on the road.

We have depth issues but Florida now has even more depth issues. If Young and Murphy happend to end up getting in foul trouble our interior players will have a field day. They have no one that can come off the bench and guard our post pleyers. UK would be fine with Willy, Alex, or Noel on Murphy. Florida is screwed if they have to put anyone other than Young on Noel or Cauley.

Is that all? 11 seems generous at the O-dome. I just hope it doesn’t get ugly. Even though we are technically the underdog, I feel like Florida will still be up for this game just because of the name on the front of the jersey.

#2 – Yikes! Nearly a 20-pt loss? If the Cats lose, I don’t see it being by that much. I guess if the Gators shoot lights-out it could happen, but I think the Cats are playing much better defense as of late. Just my opinion.

It depends on how physical the ref’s will allow them to play in the paint, and how hot Florida is from beyone the 3 point line. Julius and Kyle need to knock down some 3’s for UK to have a shot at winning this game.

We have a better chance of losing by 20. Take the points. Y’all realize that Auburn, South Carolina and TX AM suck, right? The win at Ole Miss was impressive but we haven’t played ANYONE as good as FL since the UofL game. FL is going to be fired up for this one. Not sure we’ll be ready.

Florida by 11 is high. Florida has not been great rebounders in conference play and that was before yeguette was out. Also that don’t draw a lot of fouls or get to the foul line a lot. So I can our bigs playing most of the game without foul trouble. I think that means this game will be back and forth and won in the final 3 min. Uk 71-UF 68

Without Yeguete I don’t think Florida is the same team. Florida is capable of winning this game by 20 if they hit there 3s. But if the Cats can guard the perimeter, this one will be close. Ill take the 11 points any day.

It all comes down to our guard play- if Archie is, well, Archie, then we lose by 15, but if he does step up and play like he did at Ole Miss, AND Harrow starts attacking and getting penetration then we can win. UK 69 UF- 68

Two weeks ago, I would have thought that 11 was too low. However, it appears as if Florida may have peaked and the Cats are on the rise. I think it will be a close one and hoping the Cats pull off the upset. UK 71- Florida 68. That being said, we are still young and inconsistent so who knows. Regardless, I love my Cats!!Go big blue!!

Hard call – Florida has the potential to score in bunches and that is what concerns me. At times we have struggled and had some offensive droughts. That said – If we shoot decent – we can certainly hang with them. If not – could get ugly. Environment will be wild – but this team has faced that all season seemingly more than ever (people trying to catch the Cats in a “down year”). Some say we have not played a team as good as Florida – and I will admit they looked unbeatable a few weeks back – but I also think Florida has not faced a team that can play defense as well as UK (IF we will play it). Florida does a great job of spreading the floor on offense – and everyone seems to bite and try to go out and guard them. I say pack it in and MAKE them hit 3’s (which they can), but don’t go way out, allow penetration, and dish-off’s/fouls getting back on D. If they are killing it from 3 – then go out and guard it a little harder. If not – attack on the Offensive end. UK gonna have to have poise and score when given opportunity.

Cats by 3…Goodwin & Poythress have their best games of the season. Harrow is solid (4-1 ratio), Wiltjer and Mayes nail 8 3’s. Noel records 8 blocks and Cauley-Stein gets a double/double. Word.

Cats can win but its going to take one of Florida’s worst performances and UK’s best. Unfortunately, I’ve felt FL was a final four contender all season, whereas I have not felt that way about UK (at least since Madness)…. Here’s hoping the Cats go into the O-Dome with something to prove! I think it will be a closer game than the score shows with the gators taking the win. Here’s hoping I am wrong!!!!

After the Auburn game I said we’d be a 13 point underdog at Florida. So 11 sounds about right to me. What usually happens in games like these are that Florida will be up six or eight points late and then we start fouling and shooting threes to try to catch up and end up loosing by 11-13 points. Or we can go all ND on them and send it to 5 overtimes.

  35. Guest
    5:29 pm February 11, 2013 Permalink

Our combined end of game deficit to Duke and UofL was 10 points, and we’re playing much better now than when we played either of them. So I think 11 is a little high. While that stat doesn’t mean a whole lot, we have shown the ability to “get up” for big games. I like your analysis 26, but I disagree – as long as our bigs aren’t in foul trouble, I’d guard tight outside and funnel everything to Nerlens and Willie, allowing them to alter and block shots. Since they only have one good player inside and don’t draw a lot of fouls, foul trouble shouldn’t be an issue. If Florida hits more than 12 threes, they win. If we hit more than 7, we win. If both of those things happen, this will be a hell of a game (and closer than 11 points).

I think the media is right about the SEC this year. watching LSU and ALA was difficult. two bad teams…if we can guard the three then we can be competitive BUT if not it will be a double digit loss. I agree with #17 and we will be lucky to stay in this game and really lucky to win…I sure hope Goodwin and harrow show up to play!!!!!!!!!!!

All this playing better on the road talk is overrated to me. They do play great on the road in the 1st half usually, but buckle in the 2nd. If we can put two halves together, then we have a shot. I’m not sure I see it happening right now, but I do by the time March rolls around.

I think it will be EXTREME!

Either we win by 8-12 and never really threatened.

    OR

We get beat by 20 and were never really in the game.

Unfortunately, I think the latter is more likely

Final point differences in games are sometimes meaningless.

Many games are close until about the last three minutes and then come a parade of fouls. The team leading at that time shoots free throws and, if they make them, a close game looks like a rout in the books. Reference #17: Gators-84 Cats-67.

So, Cats, don’t be down by 10 with three minutes left and we have a nice chance.

I’d take the Cats and the 11 right now if you can still get it. I know vegas and the interwebs always take into consideration that the average dummy bets with the big name when it comes to college hoops (“oh geez, i can get kentucky plus 11? sign me up”), so they factor that into the spread…so that 11 seems really high. Its already dropped to 10 on a couple sites. Get the 11 now if your betting the Cats, cause that’ll only drop. Otherwise, wait til 6:45 tomorrow and it’ll be just 8.5 or 9 (to give) if taking the Gators. My two cents.

I think UK will be ready to play–they’ll be up for the Gators but I think Floriday will be fired up too. The key will be our guard play as usual–oh how miss Teauge, etc. from last year. UK needs to start Harrow, Goodwin, Poythress, Cauley-Stein, an Noel. Florida lost there starting PF for the year, so they will be small we need to play the twin towers and let them post up with the other getting weakside rebounds.
