Final Four Gameday Links

As if you needed another reason to not watch this year’s Final Four.

Jeff Sheppard and Julius Mays kicked off their “School is Cool” tour in Pike County, fulfilling the wishes of students and 12-year old me’s everywhere.

-Christian Laettner’s “Shot” voted Most Memorable NCAA Tournament Moment.  Laettner’s NBA career, however, was voted “Most Forgettable.

-The Charlotte Observer wonders if any Kentucky fans will cheer for Louisville this weekend.  Among those who will?  Jeff Sheppard. (He’s everywhere, apparently.) has a nice little recap of the UK commits’ performances in the McDonald’s All-American game.

-Nick Wiggins digs his hole deeper by saying that the Wiggins Parents want Andrew to pick Florida State.  No real surprise there.

-Julius Randle picked Kentucky because of the competition in practice.  Hopefully Andrew was listening.

  2. Nick Wiggins is a cover up

All Nick Wiggins is trying to do is keep Wiggins recruitment a mystery because Andrew slipped and let on UK was his top choice as of now. How funny that Nick said he wanted Andrew to go to UK a couple of months ago. Wiggins will be a cat, this is just kids having fun with recruiting making the fan bases fret. Like i said Andrew Wiggins will be a cat.

Nick Wiggins needs to focus on an upcoming game and a team to play sufficiently with, if he applied more time in the gym instead of worrying about his bro, he might be a player of his caliber!

Everyone should relax, Uk is the favorite for Wiggins. I have been watching this for the past 2 years. The simple process had been that Wiggins wants to be at Kentucky and his parents as alums of fsu would be proud to have him at there school but fundamentally want the best for their son. My feeling was that fsu was no more than a sentimental family consideration out of respect for his parents relationship with the school. At times dung the process, Leonard hamiliton our former uk assistant made some in roads, but sometime during last summer there was a clear realization that wiggins would be a winner on a losing team and really wantedd to look anymore schools to make sure uk was the right choice. I really and felt that fsu fell out of the running through this year with with no solid development and hope for next years class. Andrew is confident but not stupid and has played enough that a bad team can hurt his stock.
In regards to unc and Kansas, unc was a better option between the two though, Roy has a tiered/heiarchy system and style does not help wiggins and hurts one year players and is a three year to develop school these days.
To know what is going to happen, listen very closely to coach cals comments and he said “that everyone wants to be here”. Wiggins recruitment is like Wall’s and i promise you that cal has sold him on on the benefits of winning to develop a legacy. Simply said, Wiggins knows he is the best prospect around and not worried about being outshined or playing time and has made the comments of winning as his principal decision regarding school choice. It will be hard to double a triple team wiggins at uk next year and cal has said this publicly as well and as in private. We will most games with wiggins by more than 30 next year.
There are many more reasons to be at uk, including the desire to play and practice with the other McDonald all American’s and this age group overly will focus on their own class than the bigger picture of college hierarchy. Also, in Huntington he is already part of the BBN.
    Believe in Cal!

In regards to unc and Kansas, Kansas has been out from the onset. Wiggins was mentioned of being disinterested there

Anyone think Nick Wiggins might be using a little reverse psychology here? He may be purposely trying to throw us a curveball. Everyone knows how passionate the UK fans are, so why not have a little fun with us?

8 – I agree! I read that article and can not understand why the guy is not in jail, much less being touted as such a great player. AND, he should have been thrown out of the game after he purposely stomped on Timberlake.

If Nick thinks Andrew should go to FSU because of their parents, why didn’t Nick go there?

Laettner was a great, great college ball player. His kick on Timberlake was cheap, but we all do stuff when we are charged up. Quit with the stupid hatred of everything Duke, The year before beating us that Duke team took down UNLV, who everyone thought was unbeatable. His pro career was not that bad. Quit being petty BBN!
