Experts Pick The Cats For Malik Newman

Another odd year, another year for Cal to lock up the number one player in the class. So far during his tenure at Kentucky Cal has landed a monster class followed by a lesser but still great one. The next two look to follow that trend. This year’s class looks to be a good one but could lack that elite talent that has taken recent teams to that next level. However, 2016 looks to be another mega haul for the team in blue headlined by the number one player in the class.

24/7’s panel of experts weighed in today to make their prediction where Malik Newman would be playing his college ball and 13/13 of those asked selected the Cats. While it’s still early Newman would join Wall and Davis as the third number one player in 7 years to pick the Cats. Cal would then presumably send him on to the NBA 7 months later. Watch him work:

Yes, Newman is 2015. Also, wouldn’t put much stock in the Crystal Ball as it’s been wrong about Whitehead and Robert Johnson in the last couple of days.

How could you say he goes from a monster class to a lesser one but still great when both are the number 1 ranked class in the country?

Well, last year’s class ranking depends on who you talk to. I’ve seen people call that UCLA class last year number one, while other sources say UK. Regardless, we’ll assume that UK is the “real” number one. Even assuming that, there’s a clear gulf in class between this year’s freshmen and last year’s. So this one is clearly a monster class, while last year’s wasn’t as good just bc of the overall lack of talent available in that high school group as a whole.

Is it possible to be an expert at guessing?

This guy changes his jersey from 1 to 0 or 0 to 1 every play. No wonder he’s good. The other team doesn’t know who to guard.
