ESPN Looks At The Cloudy Kentucky Future

In case you needed a reason other than Eamonn Brennan to get excited for next year…

Is it just me, or is this off season playing out a lot like last years? John Calipari signs a record breaking class, adds them to an in flux Kentucky roster, and the talking heads don’t really know what to make of it.  Sounding like every article written about the 2009-10 version of the Kentucky Wildcats, Beisner’s favorite writer Eamonn Brennan takes a look at the product we might see next year.  Take a look at the full article here, but essentially he says that Kentucky will be successful because Calipari finds a way to get big time recruits to play big time defense.  We might not be as talented offensively – to begin the season at least – but Kentucky will be in the mix, so says Brennan.

While this is all good and well, and fairly obvious to anyone that has been paying attention to Kentucky for the past year plus, it also signifies one important factor about next season.  Kentucky is going to be one of the major college basketball story lines again. For those of you who forgot, last year Kentucky lit up the presses at all times.  As Brennan alludes to, the sexiness of the super talented freshmen, combined with the mystery of how the product will look at the end, will make sure that Kentucky wins the news cycle year after year.  And as long as Calipari wears the Blue and White, don’t expect it to change.
