Epic Meal Time’s Friday News and Views

If you like bacon, fast food, bacon, bacon, Jack Daniels, and bacon, then you’ll love the guys over at Epic Meal Time. The group of culinary geniuses celebrated their second anniversary recently by creating a deep dish fast food pizza filled with an ungodly amount of calories.

Here, see for yourself:

Disgusting, right?

But it’s so entertaining.

Epic Meal Time’s YouTube channel is one of those you can spend an hour on without even realizing it. All of their videos are equally repulsive yet so deliciously fun to watch. The guys take all the foods Mom tells you not to eat and finds a way to bring them together for one entree. Examples include fast food sushi, tequila tacos, fast food lasagna, and a Thanksgiving bird inside a bird inside a bird inside a pig. I recommend watching all of those.

The Epic Meal Time guys, though extremely talented in the kitchen, are why everyone else hates America.

News and views. And bacon.

Are you ready for some 2013 football????? The conference schedule was released on Thursday and, buddy, it’s a Jim dandy of a lineup, especially for you season ticket holders. Have a look:

August 31 – @ Western Kentucky (Nashville)
September 7 – MIAMI OH
September 14 – LOUISVILLE
September 21 – Open
September 28 – FLORIDA
October 5 – @ South Carolina
October 12 – ALABAMA
October 19 – Open
October 26 – @ Mississippi State
November 2 — ALABAMA STATE
November 9 – MISSOURI
November 16 – @ Vanderbilt
November 23 – @ Georgia
November 30 – TENNESSEE

Fans in Commonwealth Stadium won’t see many wins, but they’ll see some quality opponents on the visiting side.

And in #BeatGeorgia news, the football team got its last practice in Thursday before the Dawgs come to town, and one of the main things Joker and his staff are preaching to the guys is to get off to a better start than they have been in previous games.

“One thing we have been practicing, talking and preaching, is lets get off to a good start,” Phillips told the media after practice. “We have got off to a fast start in a few games and played well for a half. The thing we have to do is put together two really good halves and that starts with playing and starting off fast. That is the thing we have been preaching this week.”

Kentucky’s last offensive possession was a 61-yard touchdown pass from Jalen Whitlow to La’Rod King, so maybe that momentum will carry over into the Georgia game. No?

With Smith and Towles still out, Jalen Whitlow will get the start again for the Cayts, and according to Joker, Whitlow’s practice this week has been somewhere in between good and bad. He said, “You can’t blame a guy that’s been thrown into the situation he’s been thrown in. He’s probably in between a good and bad week. But his showing in games hasn’t reflected the way he’s played in practice. He didn’t have a real good week the week we played South Carolina and I thought he played really well. He had a good week in some other weeks and then didn’t play as well in those games. So, it’s hard to figure out what you’re going to get on Saturday, especially with a young guy. We’ve just got to show up, see what we get from him.”

Kentucky needs to win out to make a bowl game.  Moving on…

I’ve seen All-Access Kentucky five times. How many you got? I know there are some high numbers out there.

My favorite part: “My wife makes a really nice salad that I enjoy eating.”

Over in the league, Anthony Davis scored 15 points in the first half for New Orleans in the 97-68 loss to Atlanta. He finished with 19 and seven rebounds to go along with Darius Miller’s two points and one rebound. Brandon Knight scored 12 with five rebounds and four assists in Detroit’s loss to El Heat.

The Herald-Leader has a good read on Marcus Lee’s volleyball career.  Lee’s AAU coach told the newspaper, ““(Volleyball) helped his timing – how to go and get the shot and not just swing at it. You have to control the ball in volleyball. There’s a little art to it.” Lee has said in the past that volleyball is his favorite sport.

From Matt’s evening notes: We will be playing KSR BLIND DATE for FRONT ROW tickets to the Blue/White Game. Yes, you can get tickets to trip the referee by playing the game. What we need is a young woman who is interested in going on a blind date with another UK male fan to the game on the front row. You will get to pick your date from four contestants in a “Dating Game” format. If you are up for it (and why wouldn’t you be), email Matt at [email protected] and let him know your information and why you should be picked. It will be a lot of fun and the reward will at the very least, be front row seats, and maybe even the love of your life (you at least know you have basketball in common).

Kentucky Sports Radio radio will be broadcasting from Keeneland Friday morning. If you’re at the track, look around for the tall guy with the nose whistle and his bearded friend. We’ll be wearing headsets.

Please write a story on why Mitchy Barnfart has been hiding out and how much money he has lost and wasted during his tenure. We all know about the Billy Clyde fiasco and the Joker bungle. How much has he cost the boosters and university? We don’t care about the success of the girls archery team and coed rowing team we want to hear about the big boy sports that pay the bills. I would love to see an objective story on this and think others would as well.

Hate to be nit-picky Drew, but all day you guys have left off perhaps one of our most appealing games on the 2013 schedule…Nov. 2 vs Alabama St. (A FCS opponent who SHOULD be a win for the Cats, which it looks like many of those wont be had on this murderers row of a schedule)

Make Willie Cauley-Stein the head football coach! Right now, midseason, before basketball starts. It makes perfect sense…think about it. He has experience at wide receiver, so he could coach those guys well. I feel like he could turn things around. A UK basketball freshman coaching the football team…it’s perfect. Talk about excitement injected into the program…ticket sales out the boomwah! It’s perfect! Who’s with me?

  6. Here's an idea
    11:47 pm October 18, 2012 Permalink

That football schedule would be very manageable if Barnhart takes a deep breathe, opens the check book and hands Kirby Smart a blank check and tells him to feel in the amount. Then he should offer Tee Martin the OC/QB job. Any former QB can run the offensive play calling and as a terrific recruiter, uk might be watchable. Not to mention he brought in most of the playmakers we have now. To young coaches would provide plenty of energy and excitement to this program.

    2) “We don’t care about the success of the girls archery team and coed rowing team we want to hear about the big boy sports that pay the bills.”

You know, I’m getting a little bit sick and tired of hearing people use this as an argument against our AD. Allow me to remind you of a few things – first, some of us DO care about giving students the opportunity across the board to excel under great coaches and staffs.

First, I know you’re a money-grubbing prick who couldn’t care less about the overall welfare of the UK Athletics Department.. well maybe that’s harsh. Maybe you’re just a lying prick who is using a lame also-ran excuse to mask the fact that you want us to be good at football, and we won’t be good at football. So throw innocent kid’s college athletics’ careers under the bus, sure!

Second, the money isn’t an issue! We’re IN the SEC – talking about us losing money from football is like complaining that we ONLY won the National Title because Kansas ran out of time. It’s a lame, irrelevant argument that isn’t even true. Having any part of the SEC, being a charter member GUARANTEES that we will continue to make bank and be massively in the black forever, as far as athletics is concerned. We get a share of the cut regardless if we are 1-11 or 12-0.

Finally, let me circle the wagons back to the first point. You know what’s funny about what you say about Barnhart? It’s that it’s untrue on every level. Our AD brought in the most celebrated and successful coach to never cheat at UK. He may have flubbed taking the at the time smart money idea of a HC-in-waiting.

I can hear your mewling already, “but we aren’t winning NTs!” Nor have we EVER in football – but we did beat UL for years in a row, and go to more consecutive bowl games than almost the total we’d been to PERIOD before. So deal with it – we’re KENTUCKY football, not ALABAMA. Deal with it.

And did you conveniently forget that basketball is also a revenue sport? Yeah, boy that Cal guy sure sucks wind at winning doesn’t he? You don’t get to be picky about this – our AD promoted Joker. He ALSO hired Brookes. He hired(and quickly fired I’ll remind you) Gillespie. He ALSO hired Cal. In revenue sports, Barnhart has arguably brought us to the(or in basketball a) highest point in those sports history.

You just don’t like losing, and since Joker is a lame duck who can’t really be a target for your frustrations, you’re taking it out on our AD. Kentucky has won 11 Championships in its history – TOTAL, for Varsity sports. Since 2002(when Barnhart was hired), we’ve won 2. That’s NINE in the nearly 100 years before Barnhart, and TWO in the 10 years since. Not bad, huh?

Yeah, Joker has no chance against that schedule, just like he didn’t this year. Fire him already and let’s get a coach in here that will have us competing. There is no use even pretending Joker can win. Epic fail = Joker and Mitch.

We drop Arkansas and pickup Alabama. At least there is a bye after the UofL game and one after the Fla, SC, and Alabama stretch. If Joker returns it could be another 2 win season.

#10 first off you must be one of those Internet tuff guys calling people names on posts . 2nd #2 has a point Barnhart has not made a commitment to football which I our funding meal ticket. You are judged nationally on football and Bball not the Olympic sports. If I’m not mistaking the driving force of this super conference realignment is FOOTBALL. That should show you what the nation cares about. So Barney can be left behind cheer leading for track and rifle and then seeing his way out the door. What happened to all the money we made from the bowl games? That was more than enough to make some facility improvements. He better make a good hire this time around or he will be driving his Chevy chase station wagon back to wolly world.

Everyone seems to be missing the main point of this post. And that point is that our head coach, the person in charge of the overall recruitment, evaluation and development of our football team was quoted as saying, “…in between a good and a bad week.” Please read that again. “…in between a good and a bad week.”

What does that even mean? How is that even remotely insightful? Who says those kinds of things?
“Oh yeah that meal was between good and bad.”

#10 dude is fired up about his buddy Mitch. You can’t say he brought in Cal because we all know the big boosters made that hire not him. I agree that he has cost this school a boat load of money and has really poorly managed the football team. I’m also sorry that no one on here cares hearing about the “little” sports on this site but true is true and we don’t. I wish them well but I am simply not interested in them.
