Eloy Vargas Impressive In Summer League Debut

Last week news broke that Eloy Vargas would be playing on the New York Knicks summer league team. What wasn’t reported was the fact he was going to shock the world. Today Vargas and the Knicks took on the New Orleans Pelicans and the big man finished with the following stat line:  19 mins, 4-5 FG, 9 points, 2 rebounds  in a loss.

All from a guy many assumed would never play a minute in the association. Keep up the good work Eloy! The Cats are dominating the summer league.

Why was he such a bust at UK? He’s big and has the size, and was pretty highly rated coming out of junior college. What was wrong, exactly?

Eloy could find a spot in the league if he keeps working hard. The fact is, there just aren’t that many skilled 7 footers around. And those complaining that he was a bust at UK, that was mainly because AD and TJ were so valuable to the team in 2012 Eloy basically didn’t get any time. When he did come in he usually gave us quality minutes though.
