They consistanly bring up beating us on a last second shot at home, I guess the loss in the NCAA didn’t matter because it was on a neutral floor and they can’t play away from home. They will win it all if they can play all the games at home.
LOL I have to admit I like the pic! But you have to understand that while my IU team lost UK in the tourney, that first game represents so much more to IU fans than just a W. It was a statement that IU basketball was RELEVANT again. UK fans have the luxury of being relevant most of the time. IU has essentially been a non-contender since the mid-1990s, and had been gutted by the Sampson ordeal. Beating the #1 team, one of our main rivals, and on our homecourt in such dramatic fashion meant something then, and it still does, regardless of how the second game turned out. Is it hokey to put the Watford pic on popcord boxes? Well yeah, but I darn sure will have one in my possession soon, because it represents something bigger than that game. Just the truth.
#11 Yeah and that’s why Indiana basketball is just bad. You don’t get that part of winning is acting like you have done it before, sweet 16 rings and popcorn boxes of games that didn’t matter aren’t acting like winners. It’s more acting like a bad program that doesn’t know how to win. Anyway the only thing that game you won last year showed is your team never got better, we did, Oh and that Tom Crean has the worst rug guy in the business.
13 – Like I said, the popcorn box is a bit much, and much of what you say is true, except for Crean’s rug. it’s the Dwight Schrute Special, and it is amazing!!!!!
The fact is that IU hadn’t won jack sh*t in a long time!! Some of the fanbase has NEVER seen IU go to a Sweet 16 (other than the 2002 final four fluke)! Won like we’ve been there?? Dude it has been forever! Like I said, fans of UK won’t get it, and that is cool. It’s an IU thing, whether in bad form or not. And I blame you not one bit for the popcorn box comments, and that pic is funny.
14 – I think the point is that your program is supposed to be one of the best college basketball programs in history. When you have a proud history, you should be above sweet sixteen rings, shrines to one game, and popcorn boxes with a picture on it that celebrate a regular season home court win.
UK wasn’t above elite eight rings and retired jerseys back in 91-92 after their program recovered from sanctions. IU did the same thing (minus the retiring of jerseys, even IU didn’t take it that far). Know your own history before you talk about others.
Tom Crean has brought the Hoosiers back to respectability and deserves all the credit in the world. Beating us just put a stamp of approval that yes we have arrived. Now they need to act like they have been here before. They have actually won championships before and were one of the top programs in the country for years. Kind of like we did during the Tubby years, they fell off the map. We have made it all the way back, and we didn’t celebrate some mid season victory to let everyone know it. They haven’t quite made it completely back but they will someday soon. Just please quit acting like your program never existed before Crean got there.
I heard IU is trying to get clearance from the NCAA to get the picture of Watford’s shot enbroidered on the front of their jerseys. It’s already embossed on their undies (the NCAA can’t regulate that yet.)
Love the pic!! I work with an IU fan and he still wants to make accusations against Cal when his team is just coming off probation and they have two players suspended by the NCAA. I wish I had that kind of selective memory, I’d forget I was married the first time 🙂
Funny stuff but hey, everyone knows how last yr turned out. But don’t bad mouth them too much my fellow cats because I’ve benn saying ever since last yrs final four that IU may go undefeated this yr. we hate hearing about that shot over and over but they do have an awesome team this yr. that shot will be the new Laetner shot and espn will shove it down our throats for years to come. If IU stays on top for four or five more yrs espn may decide to hate them too. We can’t all be Duke or NC. Sorry espn but that’s just fine with me. I hear Bobby Knight is in negotiations to buy espn and ban UK from television altogether.
23. IU won’t go undefeated. Michigan State and Ohio State are going to be good as well and have a good chance of beating them at least on their own home courts. They’ll be good, but this is a year where there aren’t just one or two standouts like last year. The title is far more up for grabs than last year where experts picked UK or UNC for much of the year.
And no, that shot is nowhere near the Laettner shot. That game went down as one of the greatest ever played, and UK was not playing full gear in Bloomington. Plus, it was a regular season game. Symbolic for IU, but it had no effect on last year as a whole except ensuring IU and UK were in the same bracket.
@24… Yeah I agree it will be hard for them to actually go undefeated but they are going to be tough to beat this year. I just can’t figure out why espn hates us so much that they make every big shot against us into never ending commercials and they allow Bobby Knight to commentate when he won’t even call our school by name. He did finally break down the other night and complement last yrs team. But I feel like espn has had an agenda against us. With All Access Kentucky maybe they are coming around a little. Might have something to do with several of their regular hosts really liking what Cal has accomplished or maybe I’m just a little sensitive after watching Laetners shot and Watfords shot over and over in commercials. UK/Duke 92 was the greatest game ever played but the ending still hurts.
25 Comments for Eat up, Hoosiers.
It’s funny how they remember beating us in December but don’t remember losing to us in the NCAA tournament.
I think about the five-second rule a lot. A whole lot.

That is Great!!!!!!

I think Drew’s degree must have been in photoshop, he’s such a pro!
Laughing at you Indiana.
That is AWESOME !!!!
That picture is awesome! We must see this one again and again.
Nice Drewcifer. Absolutely love it! Eat it Pie Hole U.
That IS news in the most ridiculous manner possible! I love it! That’s why KSR is “awesome baby”.

Way to take the high road with the popcorn Drew. Although I’m sure you have a version on your personal computer that’s not, “family friendly”.

Did they hang a banner for beating us.

17) You forgot something: IU did the same thing- minus the Elite 8 appearance.

And IU, a nice plaque would have sufficed.
