Early Easter Notes

Its late and Easter, so we will make this short and sweet….

— Congrats to Darius Miller as he helped lead his Mason County team to the Sweet 16 title tonight. Miller had 28 points and 8 rebounds in the victory and capped off a brilliant high school career. Billy Gillsipie, Bill Keightley, Patrick Patterson, Joe Crawford, Ramel Bradley, Ramon Harris and Jodie Meeks were all there to support the future Cat.

— I will have much more on this tomorrow night, but I had an interesting conversation today with a person around the program about the current thinking on recruiting this Spring. He had more details which we will break down later, but the overarching theme was encapsulated when he said to me, “there is no telling how many new players will actually take the court next year. It could be a couple more or it could be 5-6 more. And really the only one you can be certain of at this point is Darius Miller.” The individual was very optimistic and thought the Spring was going to bring Cat fans some very pleasant surprises.

— Duke lost….we all win. 8 McDonalds All Americans and West Virginia seemed to be more talented. The sham of Dukies making the McDonalds team will hopefully end soon. Duke has not beaten a team seeded 1-4 since 2001.

— Could be up to two in-state walk-ons on the team next year….and that is not counting whatever is going on with Bud Mackey.

Randolph Morris started for the Knicks. Things are improving for him rapidly….

More early in the afternoon….in the games tomorrow, I got UNC, Ville, UT, Villanova, Georgetown, Memphis, Texas and Western. Watch out however for Mississippi State….they will make Memphis sweat and could squeak it out if all goes well…..

Happy Easter to everyone!
