The guy above apparently doesn’t like me or KSR. He had some problems with comments I made on Bomani Jones’s radio show in which I…well lets just say, gave Duke a hard time. He then sent out this tweet from his Twitter account:

But, are you all even bigger tools for (a) being offended by it and (b) retaliating by harassing this kid via Twitter? Yes.

I am sick of the lack of accountability that the internet fosters. This kid was held accountable for being a douche because he lobbed the first bomb. It would be overboard if Matt went in search of people to terrorize like some other blogs do (bustedcoverage.com and its MySpace Toolbox, for instance). But this kid asked for it by insulting a random radio guest.

I suppose we can debate whether the phrase “if you don’t like 100% of the content on the site, then don’t read it” is a fair response to well articulated criticism, but something tells me it wouldn’t matter. I would point out, though, that if a website isn’t in some way responsive to criticism, it loses its readers.
Regardless of exactly how offended any fans are by this college student’s tweet, consider how something like this appears to a non-UK fan:

And on my criticism of Matt, I know he has said before that he doesn’t consider himself to be a journalist, and that self-perception somehow permits him to do things like this. Whether he “can” or “can’t” write this post isn’t as important as whether he should use his influence to write the post. I simply don’t think this is something he should do.
