It feels good to get the football recruits we want, right? Especially when those include a highly-touted QB from in-state. With that being said, bask in the glory of the football team’s 3rd 4-Star commitment in the class, with more rumored to be on the way soon. It’s a great time to be a Wildcat! Here’s some links to wet your news pallet before we begin.
Drew Barker’s commitment to the Wildcats gives the program it’s highest rated QB prospect since 2002, and it’s 3rd-highest ranked overall prospect in that same time span. According to Rivals.com, Kentucky has landed 16 4-Star players in 12 years, and 6 of them have come in the last 5 months.
11 of the 14 teams in the SEC are projected to go bowling next year by CBS’ Jerry Palm, SPOILER ALERT, Kentucky isn’t one of them. Auburn and Tennessee are the other 2 SEC schools that Palm projects will get to go home for Christmas next year. Bob Stoops was unavailable for comment.
BREAKING: The latest in the ongoing saga of the “Andrew Wiggins Watch”. I’d be willing to bet my reputation that in regards to Wiggins, this info is accurate.
Considering Wiggins is about the only news coming out regarding basketball at this time, maybe now would be a good time to refresh on some Kentucky basketball history. And by some history, I mean all of it, neatly organized into something called a “Chartball poster”

No, he meant Bob. Bob had made some remarks regarding how great the top of the SEC was, but that the middle and bottom were as strong as any other conference out there.

Have you guys heard of possibly Andrew Wiggins committing already? It’s all over the Internet and this one board has a guy who was told by a reliable source close to Wiggins that he has committed to Kentucky and will be expected to announce on Monday or Tuesday!?!

11- I’ve read all that stuff too. It gives me hope, but it’s not over till Wiggins says it himself. There has been so much talk about this recruitment, I’m just going to take it with a grain of salt and patiently wait to find out.
ALL THAT SAID. I trust mysterious Kentucky sources more than that of any other school at this point.

What does it say about the last staff that Stoops has gotte more talent in 5 months than they did in 3+ years?
Light is really starting to be shed in regards to just how awful Joker performed here. He was a division 2 coach trying to run an SEC program and it showed.
People think we will be awful this year but they seem to forget that we lost our starting qb in week 3, were decimated by injuries overall, and had the worst head coach in America. Add a much better staff, a top 30 recruiting class (including 3 jucos who will start from day one) and get everyone back healthy and you get a team much better than people are expecting. I don’t know if we go bowling because of the schedule but were going to be much much more competitive.

The 2nd grade called and said “its” shows possession and that “it’s” does not.
Next thing I want to hear about Wiggins is when he announces. Sick of speculations and guesses. Wake me up when the mystery is over.
Wiggins just started following Aaron Harrison on twitter. Mean anything? Idk
if Wiggins is still undecided he need look no further than UK’s 2012 team. MKG and AD had their weaknesses, but with the talent UK had, they could focus on their strengths and let other players do the things they struggled with. What happens? They go one and two in the draft. Miller, Jones and Lamb would not be on NBA rosters today if they went to ANY other school. Teague would be in school still.
Wiggins is great, but he’s not perfect. Come to UK, practice against the best, improve, but play TO YOUR STRENGTHS. That is the basis of Cal’s teams (except for last year). If you play for UK it makes you look more polished, more efficient, and like a better team mate. Or, go to FSU and end up like Shabazz, chucking up shots and trying to carry a team on your back.
To me there is NO choice, really.
If we get Wiggins and don’t win the national championship, then we need to search for a new coach. Period.
Since no one seems to be interested in the “chart,” I will ask a question. Why does it say the history of UK basketball and begin in 1950? Geez, I started following the team in 1951 and it already had one hell of a history.

We have a great coach, but louisville will have the experience. Even getting Wiggins will be tough beating the dirty cards.

If I’m reading this chart right…and that’s a big if…UK(in the modern era) has only been outscored for the season on one occasion…88-89. Sutton’s horrific last year. That’s pretty impressive along with all the other stuff.
