Drew Barker picks Kentucky
Drew Barker is a Cat! The four-star QB announced his decision to attend the University of Kentucky in a press conference at Conner High School moments ago. He chose the Cats over South Carolina and Tennessee.
Almost every single national recruiting analyst thought Barker was a lock for South Carolina, but Mark Stoops and his staff made a late surge that was too much for the state’s top player to turn down. Barker is being called the best high school quarterback from Kentucky in the past twenty years, and his commitment takes UK’s 2014 class from 24th in the Rivals rankings to 18th. He’s also UK’s third-highest rated recruit since the Rivals started ranking them in 2002, behind Micah Johnson and Glenn Faulkner. ESPN ranks him as the 141st best player and the 7th best pro-style quarterback in the nation.
He’ll join a legendary list of Kentucky-born quarterbacks to play for their homestate school, including Tim Couch and Jared Lorenzen.

#31, have read from many major scouts that this year is a down year at QB in high school recruits, however, Barker may very well end up being a top 3 QB when it is said and done. He will kill it in the Air Raid offense.
Just looking at pro style qb’s from 2003, Woodson was 7.

@26, it’s not negativity. It’s a fact. There WILL be a HUGE QB controversy coming (and probably a transfer or two) and that’s not something you want in your new coach’s first season. The fans will want Barker, the Alumni will want Towles and the staff like Whitlow. I didn’t list Woodson because he didn’t move to Kentucky until 1994. He was born in Washington and moved around a lot because his parents were in the military. So technically, not Kentucky born. Still awesome, though.
28) I don’t think for one minute that Towles will not get a shot and neither should you. If you think that Stoops and Brown are not going to field the best QB for their system, you’re totally wrong. If it’s Towles then great, if not then so be it, he didn’t deserve it. Don’t confuse this coaching staff with the previous one. This is a new staff and everyone of these young QB’s started from scratch and if you are not #1, you didn’t earn it.

Drew is a good H.S Qb that has marketed himself well in a weak national class. I have watched him the last 2 years several times. He reminds me alot of Patrick.I dont know who said he was the best QB in the last 20 years im sorry thats nuts.I like him I hope he does well at UK. Lets not hang the savior tag on a kid and put that kind of pressure on him. He has good size and moves well. Good passer, didnt play alot of competition. I like that attitude-sounds like he has realistic expectations (3 good Q.B.’s ahead of him) & is confident in his abilities, but not a prima-donna. Blaylock, Smith, Tolles, and a year later-Barker. He may be the best QB in the country but I sure as hell wouldnt take the word of a guy who never played football like all these so called experts. I think Drew is a good QB.Zeke Pike was a top National Guy 2 years ago. Just saying. This is not a knock on Drew but a knock on the websites that sell memberships by promoting thses kids. You can manufacture a rep by going to all the camps.
