Donte Rumph named one of the SEC’s top defensive tackle prospects for 2014

UK fell to Auburn 37-34 on a last second field goal by the Tigers during Saturday's SEC game at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington, Ky.

One of the few setbacks from Spring Practice was Donte Rumph’s shoulder injury. However, Rumph is recovering nicely from his surgery, and should be ready to play once the season rolls around. In fact, ESPN’s Chris Low says that he’ll be one of the top defensive tackle prospects from the SEC in next year’s draft:

Donte Rumph, Kentucky: He had his spring cut short by shoulder surgery, but the 6-3, 323-pound Rumph is an imposing figure in the middle. If he’s healthy, look for him to be on a lot of teams’ draft boards.

We want the Rumph…gotta have that Rumph…

Did Stoops keep that goofy 6’11 guy around? Or was he ran off?

It wouldn’t be a bad thing if Donte redshirted this year.

I watched Jack Gruenschlaeger win a state championship when he was a senior over my alma mater Owensboro Catholic a few years back. As big as he was I was not impressed. I remember at least two of their O-linemen where much better than him. Hope he was put the work in and has gotten better. a 6’11 tackle is intimidating, but only if he has the footwork and the strength to go along with it.
