Once again, what a difference 30 minutes can make. For the second consecutive week, the halftime break shook alive Joker Phillips’ troops and they stormed through the second half after sleepwalking through the first two quarters. Thanks to another career game from Mike Hartline, who completed 32 passes for 342 yards and four touchdowns, and some gutsy play-calling on both sides of the ball, Kentucky did what has seemed so impossible. They snapped Steve Spurrier’s personal 17-game winning streak against them and a 10-game losing streak to South Carolina. It was an interception in the endzone with four seconds left by Anthony Mosley (after a great tip by Cartier Rice) that sealed the play, but a 24-yard touchdown pass to Randall Cobb on fourth down (Randall got loose!) with 1:15 left is what put the Cats ahead.
