Did Langford throw a haymaker at Davis?

I’ll let you all decide on this one.

To me, it looks like Langford threw a right-handed haymaker at Anthony Davis after the two got tied up going for a loose ball. Regardless of Langford’s intentions, had that right hand connected, it would’ve been lights out for the Kentucky center.

What do you think?

No doubt, but it looked like a little give-and-take by both parties.

I say no, looks like they were just tied up and he flung his arms getting loose. I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

It sure looked like a Tank Abbott sp? knock out swing to me…However, how you could throw a punch and not hit Davis (somewhere) is beyond me.

See if you can get someone to get a closeup of his hand on the frame in question. If his fist is closed you have your answer, if not, he is just pushing off.

Doubtful intentional. Unless he has a history, I’d say he was just disentangling himself.

Davis actually landed on him pretty hard and was the aggressor. Good hustle by both players. In fact, everyone I can see looked to be very physical.

Bet the players are sore after that game. Welcome to the SEC.

Teague wracked the guys nads when it took the shot. If you find a replay of it, you will see the guy jump to shoot and Teague is flat footed and throws a forearm into the guys groin. Then you see the guy fall into the fetal position while everyone runs down the floor.

It just continues to AMAZE me how many calls college refs miss in games, but what really gets me is the fact that they seem to miss more against Kentucky than any other team! You dont believe me then break down the tape and watch alot of UK’s games…

leaning towards he wasn’t trying to land a haymaker. think he was more trying to shove davis off from on top of him. and if you’re trying to land a punch pretty sure you’re looking at the guy to see if he hits back

Forget this crap. I wish Drew or someone would have the nerve to ask UK, Cal,Barnhart, whoever, why they don’t boycott Tipton. At least ask the question. If I ever get a chance, and I am lucky enough to get through, That’s my question for Cal or Barnhart, hell, anybody that can answer it.I think KSR should take the lead and ask the question. I have been on this site since it first was formed, and the Matt that started this site would ask any question of anybody. Where did that Matt go?

It appears he indeed took a swing at Anthony. May he reap all the rewards due to a person who has to play basketball at Auburn.

Hard to say. Heat of the moment, tangled up going for the ball. The overriding point of the game is Auburn should never have been in this game or even thought they had a chance to win. This team needs to grow some, unless they think Teague will hit them. Joking of course there. We have some talented athletes but learning to play as a team takes time. I think (hope) we’ll get there. Davis, Gilchrist and Miller are class acts.

That’s a tough one, (even with the HD video clip) but posting this and not posting the Teague nut-shot is pretty weak. If Teague is gonna have the mouth & attitude he does now, he better improve quickly. That’s the only way you’re allowed to get away with it.

I watched it about 15 times. He pulls the hand back prior to the swing. It was definitely a thrown punch. I’d bet good money on it. But I doubt he knew who he was swinging at, considering the chaos. Then again, you know what they say about opinions….

The podcasts are where they always are on WKJKs website. Just because they don’t post it doesn’t mean its not available. The 1st hour is usually up before the 2nd hour finishes… and the 2nd hour is usually within an hour after that. Bookmark this site and stop asking where the damn podcasts are.

25)i think most of the time they miss what they want to miss. i strongly suspect that there are a bunch of refs, college and pro, raking in some big bucks in vegas. there is so much physical play it just looks way easy to call a foul where and when they want to, thereby effecting the point spread

He probably did take a shot at Davis, but he didn’t extend his arm (he swung it down from the top) so it was smart on his part. I’m more embarrassed by Teague to be honest. He can’t be taking cheap shots at guys like that.

  51. BlueDNA
    5:52 pm January 12, 2012 Permalink

Yes, a haymaker. He was upset because AD hit his head in the scrum for the ball.

On the Teague deal, I saw nothing more than the usual extension of the arm by a defender when a shot is taken inside. The guy just jumped higher than usual.

I say no, and I’m basing that on Langford’s response immediately afterward. If you throw a punch at a guy, whether you connect or not, your natural reaction is to look for the guy’s response…your adrenaline is still running wild, you’re ready to fight. Lanford, however..immediately turned his back to Davis and looked at the play.

  57. rixter719
    7:18 pm January 12, 2012 Permalink

All of you who say it was a punch…. have you ever thrown a punch at someone, then immediately turned your back on the guy?? I wouldn’t advise it.

Swinger is free of entanglement as he is straitening up, arm is loose, instant reaction to swing at who ever the other entangleee was, punch made no contact indicating no approaching retaliation, all clear on that front, move to next problem. Definite punch, not premeditative.

  63. catdaddyd

I saw that when it happened and could not believe the officials didn’t respond properly. I know they saw it, and if it had been a UK player swinging it would have been called. This is the reality of officiating on the road these days…
