Dickie V with the voice of reason

Nearly every national writer has weighed in on Pete Thamel’s article about Nerlens Noel and the NCAA, but the voice of reason may belong to the mayor of the Broken Egg, Dick Vitale:

Seth Davis chimed in with his two cents, but Dickie V wasn’t having it:

That’s a sweet piece of logic, baybee!

2 – what? Vitale is the best ambassador the college game has. He truly loves the game, calls the NCAA on its many flaws, and seems like a genuinely nice person. He used to rub me wrong years ago, (and it still kinda sucks when we are losing and hes yelling “upset city, baybee!” lol) but hes grown on me.

Dickie V is also one of UK and Calipari’s biggest defenders.

The scary thing is that top-notch recruits might not want to undergo the scrutiny & decide it is just easier to go elsewhere.

recruits may also realize that they need to keep themselves in order if they want to play at UK and get to the league at the top of the draft

5 – Not scary at all. That’s why Cal says that Kentucky is not for everyone. They know this kind of thing happens going into it.

Vitale and Bilas are always spot on with their assesments. With idiots such as Thamel it reminds me a lot of the movie Blue Chips. Just hoping our outcome is different. Thanks Dickie V. Your awesome baby.

We like Dickie V when we are good. When we sucked (BCG) we hated him. Unfortunatly we didn’t hate him, we were just mad at the situaiton. By the way Jay Bilas is the best ambassador the college game has. If he was president of the NCAA we would have things right.

2–we do. 4–no he’s not. i guess you weren’t around when he berated all UK fans categorically as selfish, implied racist, redneck hicks for the way we supposedly treated tubby when he was leaving lexington via a mid-season deal he made with minnysoda. dooky v is a bandwagon rider and a coach k suckup

    This via
NCAA enforcement officials visited the high school of Kentucky recruit Nerlens Noel, and have reportedly expanded their probe of his recruitment process. At issue is whether John Calipari’s repeated habit of softly playing Bob Dylan songs on guitar outside Noel’s bedroom window at night constituted an official visit or was just adorable.

Dicky V is college basketball. No one loves the sport more than him. I will say he has this correct, had it been anyone other than UK there wouldn’t be any more than just whisper. BUT….The NCAA is investigating his recruitment and how his non official visits were paid for, not his grades (although we all know that they’ll be checking them out while they are there). I “DO” fell better that Sandy Bell is along for the ride just to keep things on the up and up.
As far as the Thamel article goes, EVERYONE will have to look at this as a vendetta, be it from those who get payed to report sports, to those in the NCAA who do the investigations. As we all may assume the NCAA may also have that little weasel on their payroll as well. But sooner or later he’ll just drift off on to obscurity, for we all know the ending of the story about the little boy who kept crying wolf.

    11 that was Hilarious!

We also have to keep in mind for whenever we get wind that someone (Thamel) is “investigating” us, we as BBN write nasty emails to him thus getting “hits” on his message board, when he gets “hits” this means we’re reading his garbage thus giving him and lever in his negotiations when he up for a raise…….Lets just starve the little weasel……No hits!

Lets all tweet Seth Davis, and ask why he did not put UNC in that tweet. Unbelievable the non coverage of the UNC stuff

Seth states in his tweet above. “Aren’t we better dealing in facts and not motives?.

The NCAA does not like to deal with facts when it affects a program that they clearly have a motive to protect. So yes Seth, based on on your question, we are in fact forced to deal in motives, because the NCAA has set a precedent that some programs are favored and others are not.

Does anyone see the irony in Davis’ tweet where he suggests “Aren’t we better dealing in facts.” Umm, are there any facts here to base any accusations on whatsoever other than Pete “I need hits” Thamel reporting that the NCAA visited Noel’s high school. So, no violations yet – FACT! So, what is David basing his biased opinion on? INUENDO? Seth . . . wow.

@8 Dickie V is not always spot on, I feel he is wrong more times than not but you can’t second guess his love for the game. He has the most passion out of anybody, but if you want the most logical “spot on” conclusion then you will defer to Bilas which you did also mention.

Even if Jay mentioned something against UK that is in a negative light I will usually agree with his assesment other than him picking Cornell over us in 2010.
