Dick Vitale releases his preseason top 4

It’s awesome baby! But it could be more awesome, I suppose.

Legendary color commentator Dick Vitale released his preseason top four in a replied tweet to Gary Parrish. Parrish said he was leaning towards putting Kansas as his top team before Vitale replied.

Well, shucks folks. Second isn’t so bad to start the season. The Jayhawks returning LeGerald Vick last week wasn’t great news for UK. Vick had declared for the NBA, but supposedly never hired an agent and quietly withdrew from the draft.

People seem to forget about Tennessee. The Vols are returning virtually everyone from a good 2017-2018 team, but Tennessee also lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament as a three seed.

Regardless, UK should be top two to start the season and I’ll take that every preseason. It’s better than being unranked to start the year like another school down the road.

Before I point out that UT will not live up to their preseason ranking I’m going to point out that rankings are nothing but opinions and like the saying goes: opinions are like a******s, everybody has one. Schools that are not perennial basketball powers, like UT, and that don’t have an elite coach, like UT, have a season where they surprise the media and the next season are given a pass to elite status in a way that UK, Duke, UNC, KU, etc. aren’t. When UT doesn’t live up to the preseason hype that the media graced them with those same media members will pounce on the Volunteers like jackals. In March expect UK, KU, Duke to be playing up to the status that they’ve earned through their history of success and the media will be talking about how UT didn’t live up to the hype that the media themselves created.

Pre-season #1 is a huge target that isn’t worth having. Pre-season top five is a good place to be

I seriously dont undersrand the KU hype train… they literally have relied on superb guard play to be great. They return Vick who was good off the ball as a supprt guard. Just saying i dont think KU is even that good.

Tennessee did lose in the second round. Thanks, everyone. I was on my bachelor party and had a couple, so the days ran together. My bad.
