Derek Kief to Alabama

kief

Derek Kief, 6’4″ wide receiver out of Ohio, has committed to Alabama

While Kentucky misses on this one, but the general KSR premonition was Alabama, so this won’t be a huge issue in the long run.  There are other recruits out there, so we’ll have an opportunity for Yahtzee later on.  Maybe even this coming week. Plus, Kief had the most creative announcement style I can remember:

First. to be mentioned with ALABAMA is a big step. Lets get Berrios.

Of all the “CIC” I felt like Horton and Kief would be the toughest to get because of their respective talent. Really thought our offense and recruiting power would be enough to get him after we got Horton. But can’t win them all. Good to him. Time to look ahead.

Great recruiting as of late, but Kief’s decision to choose Alabama is not a shocker.

Good Luck Derek……hard to say that….but totally understand his decision. We will still get ours!

Congratulations to the young man! Can’t blame him for picking Bama – equivalent of picking the Cats in basketball. In Stoops we trust!

Great prospect… This is the case of “cant win them all” but to be in the top 5 or 3 is pretty impressive considering less than 8 months ago were BBN was.

We have Coach Stoops and Staff so we’ll be ok. Were recruiting players ranked as high as Kief. Would have loved to seen him in UK Blue. Thank Goodness he is in the SEC WEST! Also… very creative and exciting way to announce. Looks like a great kid off the field too.

Matt Elam… We watch you to help us get over this. Pick the UK hat over the crimson hat when its your turn!

    GO BIG BLUE

Mr. Kief, Goodluck at Alabama! You now have our full attention see you down the road. Could have been a HERO.

Cant fault him on his choice, but he would have looked good in blue and as a lifetime member of the BBN. Alabama is a proven winner with a run first offense that has no need to change.

Hey I really wanted I’m in blue and white but . Good luck in Alabama. That really was one of the coolest announcement I’ve seen. looks like he’s a good kid.

……to see this young man transfer after his Sophmore season. Run first offense in Bama. Should of picked BBN!

    5. Boy that’s an intelligent analysis

It would be tough for me to tell my son to turn down Bama, so I can’t fault him. Good luck to Kief.

Now I can start calling him Derek Queef. I was gonna have to bite my tongue on that one if he picked the Cats.

Dissappointed in his choice, but if he had rather be blocking rather than receiving, good choice for him.At least he considered UK.

No surprise here. Alabama is a hard program to turn down an offer from. Its like Cal offering a kid a chance to play at UK, more than likely they would take it.

“General KSR premonition” LMAO that is the funniest thing I have ever read. We all know where your “premonition” came from. Get real.

Wow if this was a basketball recruit would these comments be this nice and consedirate? Answer NO! if this were a basketball recruit there would be people on here bashing this kid and calling him all kinda names. Reading these comments I’m glad people didnt bash this kid. That’s the way you react BBN!!!! football or basketball. Remember that when a 5* bball recruit doesn’t pick UK. I guess since its football people are gonna be nice because we are new at this. I’m sure the attitudes will change once we start winning and then some UK fans will think we should get every football recruit and when they don’t pick UK…well let the bashing begin.

  28. Weekend Reader
    8:41 pm June 16, 2013 Permalink

#28 WTF are you talking about Kief is a good recruiting target, but why would BBN get upset about losing a 4 star in bball. Cal only goes after five stars, if a four star in bball decided to go elsewhere no one would even comment.

  29. drew
    8:54 pm June 16, 2013 Permalink

A highly talented 4* in football like Kief is equivalent to a 5* star in basketball for UK. Sorry but its true. Do you see any top 10 football recruits considering UK? No. So someone like Kief is a big deal and he will be a star for Alabama. You must not have gotten the point I was making so you are probably one of those fans that do bash basketball recruits for not picking UK. And by the way UK will still recruit Kief and try to flip his commitment.

#30 According to Rivals the #5 prospect overall is considering UK! So yes 1 of the top 10 in football is considering UK!

  31. Amari Cooper
    9:23 pm June 16, 2013 Permalink

#12 – don’t forget about me I ONLY caught 68 balls last season for 999 yards. As a freshman! Hell, we only ran for 120 more than we threw for.

And my man Kevin Norwood is being called “the most polished receiver” in next years draft.

    Biggups JJ (#26)

  32. dWade
    10:27 pm June 16, 2013 Permalink

espn says amari caught 59 balls. the rest of the receivers averaged 2.5 per game or less. their other phenom, chris black, who was in the same class as amari, was redshirted. alabama had 15 receivers last year who played.

    33) I love UK just like everyone else on here but don’t try to act like a kid made a mistake by choosing Bama over UK! Don’t we praise our BB recruites for choosing a championship over PT. You can’t have your cake and eat it too!

It’s a new day indeed when a kid like this even has UK in his top 3 and things are doing so well some of us are surprised he didn’t commit. No one should ever be faulted for going to Alabama to play football. Good luck Derek.
