Derek Kief announces his top-five with rap lyrics

Four-star wide receiver Derek Kief made his top-five official Thursday with this professional-looking graphic, bearing his own rap lyrics. The Cincinnati La Salle target is high on the list of Mark Stoops and Neal Brown for the class of 2014, but Vince Marrow is taking the lead on this recruitment for Kentucky, continuing to tap his Ohio pipeline.

His top-five has been figured to be the schools listed here: Kentucky, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Northwestern, and Alabama, in no particular order.

“Speed does kill, yeah speed does kill. You’ll get punished with my strength, that’s for real.”

You can hear the rap over his highlight video that has appeared on the site before.

Wasn’t sure I would ever see the day when UK is competing with the likes of Notre Dame, Ohio State and Alabama for recruits. Glad we’re in the mix, and the picture is really cool. Dude might want to stick to football though, I don’t think he has a career in rap haha.

I think we have a future poet laureate on our hands here. Amazing lyrics.

A little full of himself isn’t he?

Sure he’s full of himself. Most 17 year old kids with even 4 star athletic talent and offers from some of the premier programs in the nation in their sport are.

Sweet, a prima donna WR who promotes himself in HIGH SCHOOL with self-indulgent rap songs. This kid would make Chad Johnson blush. Just what we need!

Well said yoda. You can be confident without making your own youtube music videos.

Athletic ability and talent is the most important thing in recruiting, but I think we saw from last years basketball squad, character and will to win is definitely critical to a team’s success.

He may also be a high character kid that works hard and is just having a little fun. I don’t know him.

  12. Seriously?

Alright ya old farts. If you don’t have anything nice; hell, even half constructive to say, keep it down.

Derek does not run the website, did not write or perform in the rap song. Actually, he is a very modest kid.

    From the website:
This website is not owned, maintained or financed by Derek Kief or his immediate family, just a proud uncle (Lance Hart).
Please do not misinterpret Derek’s demeanor based on this site. Derek cares very much for his team and is extremely modest about the talent he has been blessed with.

    How the site was created:

  14. Isn’t that the same high school that Jaleel Hytchie (sp?) attended? If so better get him on Kief to help make him a part of BBN! Jaleel is so well-spoken I think he’d be a great recruiter for an old teammate.

Pay no attention to the “Negative Nick’s” on this site. Every fanbase has them. They don’t represent the average UK fan. Of course we want you here to be a part of the upper tier program that Coach Stoops and Coach Brown are building. A strong Ohio base of players is going to be a key part of it. Don’t go walk down a path others have paved. Come to the Big Blue Nation and be a part of forging a new path in SEC football!

He’s 6’5″ and doesn’t mind contact. He goes after the ball over the middle and doesn’t run out of bounds when on the sideline. I think we need players like him. Let’s get him!

Neal Brown’s offense would fit this kid perfectly. Some of the other schools recruiting him not so much. Derek, Come on down and be a hero like Randall Cobb.

I happen to know the kid. Good kid, great grades which is why Northwestern is on the list. Don’t knock him just because someone’s doing some good for him.
