Denzel Ware reaffirms his commitment to UK

Denzel Ware

Back in February, four-star defensive end Denzel Ware committed to the Cats, giving Mark Stoops and company their first major commitment of the 2014 class. However, in football recruiting, a verbal commitment doesn’t always mean a lot. Since committing, Ware has picked up more offers and visited other schools, including Florida, Georgia and Florida State, the school he was previously committed to before Mark Stoops and DJ Eliot came to Kentucky.

However, when it came down to it, Ware still wants to be a Cat. This afternoon, he tweeted that he has decided to stay firm in his commitment to UK and be a part of turning the program around:

See you soon, Denzel.

Still not over with this guy. Not saying he isn’t coming, but he’s not 100% all in with the cats.

#5 I don’t care if a recruit is DE from Henry Clay High School in Lexington, and his dad was a FB player at UK and his mom is a professor at UK. Verbal commitments mean zilch. So #1 is right, take it with a grain of salt until he shows up on the sideline with a uniform on. Nowadays a verbal commitment means jack to these kids.

This is college football. Verbals get flipped all the time. No sources are needed to know that.

i find it strange how in basketball once a kid committs he pretty much ends up there (T. Jones notwithstanding) but in football the college actually gets railed all the time. they take the commitment and are forced to hold a scholarship for him-more or less-while other schools can continue to bug the kid until he flips.

Hope this kid winds up with us. And i wish they would go ahead and offer his cousin a scholly already! That kid is terrific too. He was more impressive on film then some of the guys we have coming in in this last class.
