Demarcus Cousins….Slipping in the Draft?

My NBA allegiances are totally up for grabs. I grew up a Lakers fan, but when they turned to the Kobe era I lost interest (although the Celtics are my least favorite group so I am pulling for the Lake show in Game 7). I picked up the Pistons for Tayshaun, will join back on the Wizards bandwagon with Wall (for one year I had season tickets in DC) and will cheer for wherever Patrick Patterson plays. But the #1 slot for me in team fandom could very well end up being whichever group selects Demarcus Cousins. Unfortunately for Boogie and I, his stock seems to be slipping just a bit. The Sixers seem detemined to take Evan Turner at #2, The Nets are (for now) looking at Favors at #3 and the Timberwolves are almost certain to take Wesley Johnson at #4. After those picks, it gets a little more murky, but Cousins isnt assured in those slots either. Most believe Sacramento (which would be a great fit for Boogie) is choosing between Cousins and Greg Monroe and the Warriors will take Al Farouq Aminu regardless. The Pistons are at #7 and covet Cousins, so he wont fall any greater than there…but for the player with arguably the second most talent in the Draft, it is disappointing.

With all that said, it looks like Cousins is most likely to be a King or a Piston. The Kings have a need at his position and he could come in right away with Tyreke Evans and Kevin Martin and make the team very good, very quickly. The Pistons have dropped since their glory days, but still have Tayshaun and Rip Hamilton, along with a couple of good young players. Boogie could help put them back in the playoffs, although the road to greatness may be a big steeper in Detroit than Sacramento. So Kings or Pistons? For Boogie, the Kings are the best fit….but I already have Detroit gear in stock. Which would you prefer?
