Demarcus Cousins Kicked From Plane

The best way to settle an argument – teapot off.

It’s been a mixed season for blog favorite Demarcus Cousins this year.  First he had some struggles being effective in the minutes he did get, then when he figured out how to do it, he had trouble staying on the court because of off the court issues.  Just as it looked like he was turning it around and becoming a consistent big man in the NBA – including a dominating performance against two of the leagues best in Gasol and Bynum – his off the court issues are coming up again.

After a 99-97 loss to Oklahoma City last night, Cousins was allegedly upset with Donte Green for inbounding the ball to Tyreke Evans for a missed three pointer instead of feeding the ball to the post.  This turned into a confrontation in the hallway, which allegedly turned into throwing fists in the locker room.  Later, when Cousins made to board the plane in Oklahoma City, Cousins was not allowed to ‘while the team decided what actions to take.’ Surprisingly, according to FanHouse who originally reported the story, only one player stood up for Cousins as he tried to get on the plane, and that player was Fransisco Garcia.

Again, according to sources, Boogie was in the locker room shouting about wanting more respect despite being a rookie. I may love Demarcus more than most any other UK Alum, but come on man, getting in fights will not earn you respect, no matter how much you feel you’ve been slighted.

Hopefully Cousins can get this worked through soon, and hopefully the Kings don’t give up on him before he can.

Cousins seems to REALLY be having alot of fun playing in the NBA. Maybe Cal shouldn’t have pushed him out the door last March. We could probably use him this year!

If things are not changing and you are still losing, then I as a fan would be happy someone is getting punched. Trade Demarcus to a good team and let Tyreke make his paychecks losing every other game. He doesn’t care anyway.

Anyone at the game see JON HOOD back-talking Coach Cal? Coach chewed on him for 15 minutes off/on during the 1st half after he played his 30 seconds… JON HOOD wants respect, too.

Big cuz needed one more year maturity wise.Wish he was here.Fights with teammates can sometimes end up being productive. If you go back and look at Evans comments and body language in response to Demarcus from draft day forward not so sure that Cuz is the sole problem.

coaches are going to HAVE to start considering emotional maturity alongside physical readiness when deciding if a player needs to go to the next level…this line of thinking may allow us to return jones for a 2nd year as well

the nba really needs to adopt the jump straight out of h.s. or after jr. year of college rule

Cousins is going to learn the ways of the NBA or it is going to cost him dearly! He needs to get his emotions under control and learn what is acceptable and what is not. Given enough time and lost money, he will understand! Play with emotion great, leave the anger at home. All it will do is cost you!

you could also write… Cousins is so passionate and wants to win so badly, it is costing him.

However, in the bluegrass state–you have the Courier Journal hammering Kentucky at any chance they get. In Lexington, the Herald-Leader is going to hammer Kentucky at any chance they get.
This info from Bozich is a prime example.

Cousins is at fault, but the local guys love to hammer Cal. They love the to protray Cal’s recruits as thugs. this feeds into it

And i do know that ladie that is IZZO agent, and who cares what you have heard, he wanted to leave (fact!) will never be proved, but when MSU played in the Final, she flew into Detroit, and KENTUCKY WOUDL NOT WAIT. So with the hate of knowugn that and are season so far (said he didnt want to recruit as hard, and YOU DONT AT KENTUCKY!) Any way i know COUSINS is immature, but i got his back on this! Was stupid play!! Got him in the post and you take a 3 and only need 2? KID OR NOT! HA A RIGHT TO BE UPSET!!

Fact is he needs a good coach to bring the best out of him until he matures. Westphal is an awful coach and you can see it in his team. They have no heart and don’t deserve a winner like Big Cuz.

I just wish Cousins had ripped the face off of every ul fan before he left, and then wathced them bleed slowly, once decreasing squirt at a time. Then shoveled up all the ul blood and put it in a blender and make real bloody maries. Cousins should have done that.

Didn’t stay up and watch the whole game but I will say Demarcus’s body language says “I’m Miserable” I know there’s a great guy in there but he’s going about things all wrong. I too hope he figures out the professional aspect of the league soonbut doesn’t lose that passion for winning he has.

I agree with 26. I had to re-read multiple sentences because of the general awkwardness of Will’s writing. Also, Will, as a side note: you should review the grammar rules for punctuation involving parenthetical phrases. You didn’t mess that up in this post, but it is a recurrent problem in your other posts (I’m sure many people have also spotted these annoying errors). I am only telling you this because you are a writer on very popular site and thus are not held to the same writing standards as commenters.

The game is on now on NBA channel.I don’t agree with what he did in the locker but with what I have watched in the Kings games they don’t even look for him on offense.Cousins looks for everyone on offense and he is the best passer for a big man in the NBA.All he gets to do on offense is set screens and pass.He is not being used on offense the way he should be.I don’t know how he stays so calm during the games. If you have ever played on a team that treats you like this it is very frustrating and I blame the coach for that. would love to see him go to the Celtics because Doc rivers knows how to deal with players like Cousins and Rondo would sure pass him the ball on offense.

The Kings need to play it safe this year and draft this entire Kentucky team, they don’t seem to have much fight in them or even care if they get the ball or not.

Should have been kicked out of 10 games last year? Have you forgotten how the refs would go over to look at the tape time after time to see if they could kick him out? Should he have been kicked out of the Miss State game for his “call me” gesture? Should he have been kicked out of the West Virginia game for accidentally brushing the guys package? The refs weren’t going to call anything on that play until that guy acted like he had been shot and went down in a heep. then of course the refs had to take 10 minutes to decide if they could throw him out. It was plan bullshit!

Demarcus Cousins has top 5 big man talent in the league right now. His team sucks and won’t pass him the rock. I have the NBA season pass and watch almost every kings game, Tyreke is a baller but he is a gunner as well. 12.3 shots a game for Boogie is not enough. The offense needs to run inside out in Sacremento and it doesn’t. Remember Cal changed his whole offense scheme for a season because of how good Demarcus is. He shouldn’t be fighting but he obviously must have beat Donte up pretty good if they wouldn’t let him on the G6. He’ll get it together, Boogie is the man.

Who cares about cousins. He has no regard for UK. He is a pro now which is where he wanted to be when Cal baby sat him for a year. If he never played another NBA game, what does it matter to UK or it’s fans. I’ll happily let him screw up his NBA career if he’s that stupid. Hopefully they change the one and done and let guys like Cousins go straight to the NBA.

“when Cousins made to board the plane in Oklahoma City”— can someone please explain to us what this means in proper English?

  49. old_school
    11:01 pm February 13, 2011 Permalink

Cal is a player’s first coach. Unless that means making sure a player is mature enough before he’s thrown into the circus that can be the NBA.

But – Cousins served his purpose for Cal. Helped UK rack up 35 wins, got drafted as a lottery pick as a freshman – and so Cal’s reputation as a quick-ticket to the show was perpetuated.

A coach who REALLY is looking out for a player will truly help that young man make decisions that are in his long-term best interest. That means not encouraging him to do something he’s not completely ready for. Cousins was not mentally ready for the NBA – admitted that he would have liked to have stayed at UK and would have benefitted from another year or two at this level.

But Cousins had to go. Cal had already promised his spot to another hyped-up recruit, and there’s only room for so many freshmen lotto picks on UK’s team.
