Here, in the state of Kentucky, we do a few things better and with more fervor than anyone else in the country. We raise champion racehorses. We produce delicious liver-pickling bourbon. We are the creators of bluegrass music. Finally, we have mastered the art of panicking over our basketball team. Yes, we have suffered two bad losses on consecutive Saturdays. Yes, Indiana gave the Blue a beating of epic proportion. (I’m not certain, but I am pretty sure I saw Matt Nover hit a late mid range jumper.) Yes, the Cats look pretty lost on the court at the moment. However, let’s all take a collective deep breath. The season is young. The team’s talented players are young. Tubby Smith is not young. He knows how to handle a team. We may lose to U of L on Saturday. (Wait just a moment as I slap myself for daring to type that.) However, not even that will be the end of the world. This team will steadily improve. Abandon ship in December, and it will be tough to enjoy the potential smooth sailing of March.
