DeAndre Liggins, who now comes with packaged with a fresh endorsement from Coach Cal as a potential late first rounder and Tony Allen clone, will work out for the fighting Michael Jordans of Charlotte tomorrow. Liggins will be joined by a group that seems to be filled with players who don’t have a lot in common with him physically. The group includes Kansas State’s Jacob Pullen, UCLA’s Malcom Lee, Kevin Anderson of Richmond, Mustapha Farrakhan of Virginia and College of Charleston’s Andrew Goudelock. The Bobcats have the #9 and #19 pick of the first round, which isn’t exactly Liggins territory, and the #39 overall pick.
For Liggins, this opportunity presents one of the most signature stops on the pre-draft NBA circuit – the Jordan handshake/hug photo op. If the Chicago native can handle it casually and not get butterflies thinking about Craig Ehlo and Bryon Russell and the rest, this workout could work out very nicely for him. Just lean with the right shoulder, flash a “I’ve met LeBron, but this is nice too” smile and maybe shake the hand shake off with a snap. Then just walk away. After all, that’s all this trip is about, isn’t it? I mean, no one really wants to he next name on Jordan’s wall of draft jinxes, right?
