Dave Telep: Don’t worry about 2012

Nervous about the lack of committments in the 2012 recruiting class? ESPN’s Dave Telep says don’t be:

“They are not going to get shut out,” Telep said. “They are playing the percentages. They are involved with so many elite guys, they’ll get a couple of nibbles and then finally hook a couple of guys.”

So far, Cal has made inroads with six of the top 10 players on the top 100 and 13 of the top 25 prospects in the 2012 class. Prime targets include:
Shabazz Muhammad (#1)
Andre Drummond (#2)
Mitch McGary (#3)
Brandon Ashley(#5)
Kaleb Tarczewski (#7)
Anthony Bennett (#8)
Archie Goodwin (#14)
DaJuan Coleman (#15)
Alex Poythress (#18)
Devonta Pollard (#21)
Robert Carter (#22)
Ricardo Ledo (#23)
T.J. Warren (#24)

I’m not worried. We have Cal.

If we get Shabazz then it’s over.

In cal we trust! Hopefully the NBA will make the 21 or older rule and the guys on our team right now will stay with the guys we’re going to get next year. Should be a fun next couple of years!

Kyle Kuric is better than all those guys – plus he gets coaching from the best in the business, Caoch P.

I think many of these top players are waiting to see if the NBA changes its early entry rules. Of course if they change the rule to say a player has to stay at least 2 years and have it apply to the incoming freshmen then all bets are off on who we could convince to come and compete with Davis, Gilchrist,Teague,Wiltjer. I don’t think you would see UK getting top class every year. It would change to every other year.

Calipari get shutout recruiting? Not sign a single player? What the hell is this reporter thinking? Odds are, Cal runs the table again.
