Darren Dowdell commits to Kentucky

Not all news coming from last night’s game is bad news. According to Steve Jones of the Courier-Journal, Darren Dowdell, a tight end from Atlanta was in Lexington on an unofficial visit and committed to Kentucky.

Dowdell is a 6-foot-4, 232 pound tight end from Grady High School in Atlanta. He said after the visit that, “It felt like home as soon as I set foot on campus.”

Dowdell is unranked by Rivals, but chose UK over offers from NC State, Louisville, Indiana, Maryland, Wake Forest, and Georgia Tech, among others.

He isn’t at all discouraged by the team’s 1-4 start this season. He is ready to come in and make an impact next season, “I feel like I can change the program, that I can make plays when they need it.”

How about the West Virginia v. Baylor game! 70-63! Wow, would the WVU offensive coordinator be a coaching option?

#2 West Virginia’s OC Is their head coach. Kinda the same deal as Patrino at Arkansas. You saw what happened when he left. I sure would love to see towels in that offence.

What kind of towels do you want in the ‘offence’? Beach towels? Paper towels?

Kid is from the heart of SEC territory and has no offers from other SEC schools–this is why Kentucky struggles vs. SEC competition. I researched UK’s roster–there are only 22 guys who had offers from an SEC program other than Kentucky.

8, he’s untangled cause he’s not been eval’ed yet. That’s an impressive offer sheet. Hell prob end up being a 3*

This gives me reason to pause and think more positive about the future when a kid with prospects is this fired up about being at Kentucky. I’m jumping off the ‘fire Joker’ bandwagon for now.
