Today is the 19th Birthday of one of the centerpieces of the UK future as Darius Miller celebrates another year on this planet. Miller’s rise this year has been great to see and although some thought he started slow, he has made up for it and established himself as a potential future star. We wish the Mason County man the best today.
A few late night notes…..
— Tonight was frustrating as the road to the Final Four got easier for the Ville. They played a relatively bad game against Morehead but were rewarded by seeing their bracket open up as Wake Forest, Utah and Ohio State lose late in the night. The 4, 5, 6 and 7 teams in the bracket all lost. The Cards could find themselves playing in the Final Eight after beating Morehead, Siena and Cleveland State. The torture continues….
— There was a Kentucky blog that told you earlier today to watch out for N.Dakota State and Cleveland State as they both would play their games close and that one would win. We werent entirely correct as North Dakota State did play close but the Cleveland State game wasnt close….but only because they BLEW Wake Forest out. When you look for tourney upsets, find an experienced team from a decent conference versus a young team from a big conference. That happened and Cleveland State got the biggest win of the tournament.
— The ACC is 3-4 so far in the tournament. Guess that ends the “Greatest Conference” debate.
— Tomorrow afternoon Covington Holmes plays Elliott County in a game that may decide the state champion. ESPN has got to be praying that the mountain kids win so they can do their “Hoosiers” story, but they are not the only ones. If Elliott County can pull it out, I will head to Rupp Saturday night to watch them win the championship. Eastern Kentucky represent!
— Can they please get a new Enterprise Rent a Car commercial. If I see that lady say “red or black” followed by her husband saying “Both” one more time, I may explode.
— There was one minor altercation this evening at the place where we watched games that led one member of our group to say “yeah whatever you say N’ Sync!” to the other progtagonist. I think that sounds like a line that folks should use whenever they get a chance.
— Isnt it good to see Lil Romeo advance to the Second Round?
— It was fun to watch Marshall Moses today. He had a STELLAR game and I was extremely happy for him. My favorite high school player outside of Lucas/Patterson that we have ever followed. Great to see him have success.
We will be rolling all day tomorrow….as far as upsets, I dont necessarily like any shockers but I think Texas and Michigan give Duke and Oklahoma all they want tomorrow. Stay tuned…..
