Darius Has Some Big Shoes To Fill

Yesterday the World University Games Team USA received their numbers and jerseys, and as you know by now, that included Kentucky’s own Darius Miller.  Miller will wear number 12 and sent out a twit pic yesterday of a sign showing all the players that wore 12 before him.  It’s a pretty illustrious list.

Now, the list is a collection of players that have worn #12 for Team USA teams, not just for the World University Games.  But four of the past five players to wear that number are current NBA players and considered by most to be some of the best at their respective positions (with Eric Gordon being a solid player but not quite a star yet.)  The fifth, Jay Williams, was on his way to a strong NBA career before his motorcycle accident after his rookie season.

It’s pretty cool to see a Kentucky player – let alone one that grew up in Maysville – up there with the likes of Dwight Howard and Ray Allen.  I know there is a lot of excitement around Terrence Jones and the freshmen this year, but I think Darius is geared up to have a special Senior season. Plus it’s always nice to root for the hometown kid.

Anytime you can be connected to Wayman Tisdale and his smooth jazz bass stylings, you should feel honored.

even with davis being the best prospect in the country this year .. miller, jones, and lamb are going to be the most productive players on the team. lamb and miller are gonna be lights out from behind the arc and you can easily tell the changes jones has made to his approach and work ethic. jones is going to be a beast this year.

Miller needs to play with emotion like DeAndre did. He has to bring the energy every night.

If Eric Gordon played for the other Los Angeles team, he’d be considered a star and pundits across the US would be jizzing in their pants over him on a daily basis.

The sky is the limit for Darius. If he plays a pivotal role in helping UK win a title than he could definitely be drafted next season by the NBA assuming the NBA doesn’t lock out two years in a row.
