Dakari Johnson rebounded from a loss in the McDonald’s game on ESPN last night with a win on ESPNU on Thursday. Johnson’s Montverde Academy defeated Oak Hill in overtime, 77-71, to advance in the National High School Invitational. Montverde will face Prime Prep, featuring 2014 UK target Emmanuel Mudiay, in the NHSI semifinals at 2:30 ET on ESPN2.

Johnson scored 17 points in Thursday’s win with 13 rebounds and seven blocks, and capped off the victory with a dunk in the closing seconds. USA Today’s Jason Jordan tweeted that the future Wildcat is a “MONSTER.”

Go Cats.

as long as he isn’t a “beast,” we should be safe.

I honestly think dakari will be the biggest surprise on next years team. The kid doesn’t get enough hype.

It’s funny that all these uL yaps. Get on this site and run their mouth about uk for some reason they forget about the final four last year and who beat them all they say is that they went to the final 4 and they didn’t lose to uk that went on to win the next game. If they would have one you would hear it for the next 100 years t-shirts, billboards you name it regardless if they won it all. Just baffles me in their eyes that game never happened it must suck to be Lil bro

I think Johnson will be a very pleasant surprise out of the recruits we have coming in next year. He rebounds very well and has a good back to the basket game.

12 – They gotta get 27 years worth in while they can. After this season, they know their ass is ours.

I dont think WCS will be able to keep this kid off the court next year. Johnson and Randle together on the court will be great to see.
The choice by WCS and Poythress better have been made with it clearly being for at least 2 more years. i see no way either will see over 15 minutes a game except for foul trouble. Sure is going to be great to watch next year!

13 they will have 27 more years after this. With the seniors on UL it could take a long time to build back. Plus if Lamb, Pooole, and Teague had stayed longer it wouldnt be happening right now.

#14, I respectfully disagree…in fact , I see it the “other way around” ! Johnson needs to work on defense (matador defense in McD All-America game) and , more importantly STAMINA (appeared winded going up an down the floor several times)….just saying, he will have to work on these areas to keep WCS off the floor next year !

Best front court in the nation next season no doubt! Could see Cal go with a big lineup of Dakari at center, WCS at pf and Randle at sf; we would dominate everyone in the paint!
