DaJuan Coleman to visit in September

Matt Jones continues to make me feel good about letting him back on the site by releasing little nuggets of knowledge like these.  Matt spoke with DaJuan Coleman at the Peach Jam event and Coleman said he would visit Lexington in September and will decide around Christmas where he will play his college basketball.  If he’s as intelligent as he is talented, that will be Lexington.  And before you ask, he’s too big for the duct tape and rope trick.  We’ll just have to hope he likes Lexington.

Just came back from Peach jam (I live in Augusta).

First person I saw coming into gym 3 was Coach Cal before many arrived at the start of the game. My 12 year old was with me, I could tell he was busy with his phone and some notes…so I made my comment brief and said Hey Coach, We are Big Blue fans carrying the torch down in GA, just saying hello. He stood up, shook my hand and my sons hand -and said thank you sincerely for being blue down here & saying hello. Thought that was cool but you can imagine what my son thought. He still is on cloud 9. remember we rarely get back to Kentucky anymore.

Oh & the –Coleman looked good before we left (beat the crowd)… Good footwork, aggressive. Ledo struggled a little early but he is sooo smooth and his shot form is awesome.

Anyway…just passing on some stuff as the talent is in my backyard so to speak.

I’m still not sold on this kid. He’s going to have to show some highlights for me to take him seriously.

Can he run? Can he play D through an entire game? Is he an enigma that can’t be stopped?

And what’s with the “Dodgeball” pose? We don’t play that around here.

Oh..I looked for Matt…but didn’t see him. Place was packed! $5 a ticket ya can understand why.

An interesting note to add… Before we left, saw new Tenn Coach (can’t think of his name), Ole Miss Kennedy all sitting down watching. Cal standing up beside Billy Donavan near the exit chatting as well.

I guess it’s just me but to think there is all of these top coaches in one place within arms reach is kinda overwhelming for a basketball junkie like me. Really cool.

    4. Are you kidding me? overwhelming? It’s only Cal representing the #1 program in the Country! Nothing to worry about!

Not sure what it is but I can see this dude in a Cuse uniform, and not so much Kentucky. Hope I’m wrong.

    5..thx man, I hear ya.

After Cal said hello and shook our hands, my son said…”Dad, your excited like me”. He’s right. Hell, I kinda forgot Coleman & Ledo was playing for a minute or two…LOL

    4. I lived in Gwinnett County when adidas did their all-american tournaments about 5 years ago. Seeing so many big name coaches all together is really exciting. The tournament I worked had the Lopez twins and Derrick Jasper on the same team, playing against Greg Paulus. I was a scorekeeper for the game and had Coach K about 10 ft. to my left sitting with Quinn Snyder, Calhoun right passed them, with Pitino and Donovan right next to them. This particular camp didn’t have the top talent, as NIKE was doing their camp at the same time, but is was definitely exciting.

Is this camp done so that the general public knows who the players are, or do the coaches buy those $300 books with the player information? Years ago, it was tough to know which player was which…is it still the same way? Regardless, it’s something that every basketball fan should try to catch at least once..glad you and your son enjoyed it!

Coleman has that “Boogie-presence” on the court I noticed. At least this game. Even before the tip off, he’s directing people, staring at the opposing players with that glare. He’s assertive. His free throw shooting could use some work but..yeah, he’s the real deal on that court.

Ledo was as I said a little off early on but he is a slasher and if ya saw a diagram of a jump shooter, he would be in the illustration.

Damn…sorry guys, kinda took over on what Matt is here to do and hogging the blog. My bad.

    7…tdogg, my man!

I do have a couple but here’s the thing…I told Jared (my son), I just didn’t have it in me at this place and time on the court to get a pic of the coach. I guess I shoulda but, something inside of me just said this isn’t the time or place especially after Cal was so cool to us. I dunno.

8…they sell programs as ya walk in with the rosters. example…Albany City Rocks listed Coleman & Ledo and the 6pm game was on court 3. Thats where we headed. If that helps.

Nobody is too big for duct tape and rope with enough people… Big tree fall hard Beisner…

Its like Ron White said, “I didn’t know how many men it would take to whoop my a**, but I saw how many they were gonna use…”
