Cousins suspended for 2 games following confrontation

There has been an update on the DeMarcus Cousins story reported earlier on KSR today. According to Sean Cunningham, Sacramento Kings’ DeMarcus Cousins has been suspended by the NBA for 2 games following his confrontation with Sean Elliot after Friday’s loss to the Spurs. The suspension starts with tonight’s game for the Kings.

Demarcus is old news he gave us 1 yr and I gave him 1 yr, who really cares what he does now has no impact on this yrs team at this point and no impact on the football hire. In a couple more years if we keep talking about NBA players whom played for UK then you can change the site to X-CATS and there stories.

I’m sorry but suspended for talking trash and literally TALKING to an announcer? Thats stupid. Players get in less trouble for fighting. This suspension is just because he is Damarcus Cousins.

If u r on this site, u love KENTUCKY Basketball.

    Therefore, you care.

You DO care about DeMarcus Cousins.

You DO care about all players coming through this program – previously and in the future.

    There is a link.

It is important to recruit and follow recruiting; it is also important to to follow the fellas once they’ve moved on to the NBA and NFL.

    It helps with recruiting.

    Get off – Boogie.

    Be yourself – excel.

#3, he was just confronting a guy for talking about him which is the same as any real man would do.

Agree with 7 and 9 if this would had been Kobe the headlines would read “Kobe Shows Pride” or something dumb like that. And people would be more mad at Sean Elliot for being a homer.

Many trolls on here bad-mouthing Cuz. He did nothing but confront a little puss. The man is a beast and will soon be one of the best centers in the league. A little attitude on the court never hurt anyone’s chances of winning.

Stupid #5…a true UK fan would be supporting our players no matter how long they were here. Why the hell would you say something stupid like Big Cuz having any impact on the football hire? I WILL NOT BE A UK FOOTBALL FAN IF WE HIRE THAT JACKASS! I don’t care if we win the National Championship, he will screw us over like he did Louisville, the Atlanta Falcons, and Arkansas and put shame to the UK name.

#5 you are the worst type of UK fan.

You care about players so long as they are serving you and being perfect people.

But when they leave and have a couple of scuffs on the record you are ready to disown them?

And then we wonder people call say we are just an NBA factory?

Everyoned loved when Cousins was doing tough guy stuff like this at UK… But now when he is doing it somewhere else and he’s back to being a thug.

Once a Cat always a Cat in my eyes.

If you expect cats who go through 4 years and graduate after high school, there won’t be very many in BB program. Even though those boys were here only for a year, they care BBN. Boogie donated his jersey for the fund raise for Hurricane Sandy. If you can’t embrace all the boys come through our program no matter how long they were here, please DO NOT CALL YOUR SELF YOU BLEED BLUE. Again, Once you are a CAT, you are always a CAT.

I am a fan but he was lazy alot when he was here and acts like a jerk often. Could have been so much more than he has accomplished. Good thing is he still has time to turn things around but it seems unlikely to happen.

Here’s the thing. When we as a fan base continue to blindly take cousin’s side every time he gets in trouble, it reveals such an extreme bias. So now our other more important arguments (rallying behind cal) have less impact. Please stop running to defend cousins every time he runs his mouth. We just look like a biased fan base

  22. What
    8:09 pm November 11, 2012 Permalink

@20 Uh he accomplished quite a damn bit. He was the most dominating rebounder in the SEC since Shaq demanded double teams every time he touched the ball. He has carried the Kings since he got there. If not for him they would lose every single game. He has basically 1 good player on his team

Every dan base has bias, eh? When I was buying my house, I found a bunch if things wrong prior to closing. When I confronted the builder he said ” it’s like that in every house in your neighborhood”. Just because everyone else does it wrong, doesn’t mean we have to as well. We should call a spade a spade. Cousins is the problem… not the announcer. But I agree we should still support cousins. Just call him out when he’s being an idiot…again

Another example of the Stern administration screwing the players . Commentators like Eliot make their living off the players. They can say whatever they fill like to sway public opinion and not be held accountable. Cousins was standing up for himself and got thrown under the bus. I’m boycotting all NBA news for two days. #Freedemarcuscousins.

    8:33 pm November 11, 2012 Permalink

    Love Cuz….but ask yourself this….
    1) What could he have possibly gained by going out to confront this broadcaster? If the broadcaster had said, “You’re right…I was wrong.” what did Cousins gain?
    2) How would it look if the NBA allowed its players (almost exclusively huge men) to go around attempting to intimidate the people that covered the league? The league (and the players union) do NOT want to drive away media that are covering the game.

Again…Love Cuz….but being a 19-year old with a short fuse is one thing. Being a 22-year old with a short fuse is another. Gotta grow up sometime.

How were DeMarcus and Duncan treating the style of play during the entire game? Duncan comment anything after the game? DeMarcus sees the guy in the stadium, on the floor, in plain sight and that is it?
Waving arms? Making threats? Sounds like fancy farm picnicks. No pushing, grabbing, space violation? Sanantonio guy feel in danger? Demarcus is up front guy, negative or positive. This seems, from this report, something most guys do when talking sports. Thanks DeMarcus for not waiting until being in the safety of your own locker room giving reporters the shot of miss qoutes and embellishments to get the strait stuff.

Yeah, you guys are biased for sure. Tell the truth..if a UofL player threw a forearm into the throat of a UK player like Cousins did, then UK fans call him a thug and a punk. Instead, UK fans call him “physical and tough”. All the stupid rationalizations posted above for Cousins behavior don’t even consider the facts. Sean Elliott pretty much said Cousins shouldn’t be talking trash on a Hall of Famer. Why did he say that? Because he knew Duncan wouldn’t say a word back, but would kick Cousins’ ass on the floor. Which is exactly what happened. Cousins still has time to mature. Grow up. Put your head down and play ball and quit acting like a 5 year old kid.

I think Cousins needed one more year of college. Not because of his skills (he did dominate when he was here, no question) but because of stuff like this. I think Cal helped him grow up a lot while he was here, but he has regressed in the NBA now.

I also have a bad feeling that he’s going to be Antoine Walker #2 with his money some day, hope I’m wrong.

Does Tim Duncan pay the Elliot guy to talk for him?
Is Demarcus the first non hall of fame player to talk trash to Duncan?
Did you see the UK/Wake Forest NCCA tournament game when we put three guys on Duncan just like every other team that played them did? Duncan is a man in a business that includes tactics that are not pretty. I personally don’t like it but the teams and players seem to. Go try to moralize with something else.
Oh yeah, bringing up some poor U of L player being victimized, well it is easy to not mention the hacking, back slapping, pushing in U of Ls games. Especially in that all finesse league of big baby east. Where were you when the saints of Crawford gym tried to push J Wall into the crowd after a fast break they couldnt stop. Or Chaney b kneeling t Jones whole Jones was on the floor then turning to Jones with a mock jacking off motion that got Chane the tech. Foul. Don’t pretend to be without sin. Espicially ENVY

47 First off, why so much about Duncan? I haven’t seen the first comment from him about this incident. He did what I’d like to see Cousins do: He heard a guy talk trash to him, and then went about his business and kicked butt the rest of the game. Shut up and play. Second, yeah I was at that UK v. UofL game. If UofL was too physical, that’s the fault of the refs for not controlling the game. Another example of immaturity is when you can’t handle physicality IN THE CONFINES of the game and you blow up and throw a forearm or whatever. Its called taking the bait. Where was I when J. Wall was pushed? I dunno, don’t recall it. So Chane got a T for a crude motion? Good, he deserved it. I’m a UK fan, season ticketholder. I like Cousins, but he has been in the NBA for what, 3 years now? Its time for him to quit doing crap that a spoiled punk athlete does and start showing some class and leadership instead, that’s all. LOL, am I without sin? Uh no. But I’ve never done anything close to this stupid crap and can’t condone it. What, are you a t-ball parent that assaults the opposing coach when your kid loses? sounds like it.

  49. how about
    7:01 pm November 13, 2012 Permalink

43#Duncan is the only relevant part of the equasion. His assessment of DeMarcus ‘ action compared to all the others would place the level of punk or not. Not yours, mine or the announcer. What is punk about asking the guy what he said? Are his oplnions made on a Tv or radio forum beyond reproach? A player has no right to question said in the public domain?
Where in the world would a comparison. Of a t ball parent assaulting an opposing Coach come anyway near to applying to the assumptive response of throwing an elbow? Or style of play in a particular game exampled by Behanen pushing Jones from. Behind and then the gesture. You analytical grasp and response are poor and off topic.
