Cousins and Bledsoe scrimmaged with the new kids tonight

DeMarcus Cousins and Eric Bledsoe are back in Kentucky for basketball camps and they stopped by the Joe Craft Center tonight to see what all the hype surrounding the new class is about. The two former Wildcats joined Julis Mays for some run with Dakari Johnson, Julius Randle, Marcus Lee, Jon Hood, Jarrod Polson, Dominique Hawkins and Alex Poythress.

Randle got caught on the receiving end of a Cousins’ dunk at one point in the scrimmage but spent most of his time on Poythress. Dakari Johnson drew the assignment of guarding Boogie; I’m told it didn’t go well, but what 18-year-old would do well against Big Cuz?

Marcus Lee and Dominique Hawkins looked good, according to a fly on the wall.

Welcome to the summer of Kentucky basketball.

Man I would love to see these games. Its gonna be a fun summer of rumors. Remember when the best rumors we would get were “Razor is due for a breakout year”?

I have (justifiably) high hopes for our squad next year, but there isn’t any one in the college game who could handle DMC right now, let alone a raw 18 year-old. Today’s game was the hardest defensive assignment Johnson will have all year. It’s all downhill from here.

^You’re right about that, and Boogie made everyone look like little boys against him when he was 18, too. If he wasn’t on the bench with fouls, he was abusing the other center. He had one of, if not the most statistically impressive freshman season in UK history averaging 20 something minutes a game.

Are we really proud to say that Cousins and Bledsoe were Wildcats? What types of role models were they for our young people? I get that its all about the money but they were and are nothing but basketball jocks and nothing else. College was a joke to them. Like it or not its the truth….
