Couple of Mother’s Day Notes

fofoere

Yesterday was a fun day around these parts as we played in the Michael Long Charity Golf Scramble in Shelbyville. Thanks to an invite from a team sponsored by a local bank, three members of the KSR crew, Bobby Perry, Johnny “The” Bruce and I, joined three other players for the event. This is my second year playing and it is a very unique event, as each team has six players and there are 28 teams on the course, which means it is an all-day affair. Our round took a little over six hours, but it is still a great deal of fun and the competition is less than intense as most use it as an all-day party. The KSR team shot 57, placing it in fourth place, even though we left about three shots on the course. Bobby Perry continued his golfing tradition of hitting it 700 miles and yours truly had not one, but two closest to the pin entries. All in all, a great day and a great cause that has over the course of its history, raised over one million dollars for local charities. I am now sunburned and ready for a new week.

Couple of quick notes….

— Yesterday there were only two things people wanted to discuss, John Wall and Rick Pitino. While the latter is top secret info, the former is the story of the week. As of now, Wall has not narrowed down his list, despite assurances it would happen this week. I could be wrong on this, but I still believe he will ultimately just decide and that the decision will happen sooner rather than later. However part of that may be wishful thinking as I think the sooner he decides, the better for UK. If Wall were to make his choice now, UK would be the pick. Every day that goes by gives him the opportunity to change his mind. So if you want Wall (and surely you do), root for a quick decision.

— Lots of chatter about our writings here on Matt Pilgrim. There is some misinformation as to what we have said on here, so I will clear it up as best as I can. I have been told by people who would know that if Wall comes, 12 players are safe in terms of scholarships, if they want to be here….the six newcomers, Meeks, Patterson and Miller, and the three Seniors (with one potential exception). If that is the case, then there is only one scholarship for the other four guys remaining (Pilgrim, Harrellson, Liggins and Stewart). Everyone has just assumed that Pilgrim will be that guy….the individual I spoke with told me that while it very well could be Pilgrim, to assume that with certainty is “very premature.” Doesnt mean Pilgrim isnt a “beast” and it doesnt mean he wont start next year…but it does mean that the final roster is not set (as it would be if it were certain Pilgrim had that scholarship).

— Yesterday apparently there were a host of UK fans getting rowdy behind the 17th at the Players Championship. If you have a picture of that, please send it on.

Tonight we will have a rundown of how all players looked in the workouts, which I have compiled after talking to three people who attended all or almost all workouts with the new staff. Stay tuned for that….and in addition, KSR announcement tomorrow and live blog on Monday night.
