Couple of KSR Staff Announcements

The city of Louisville is about to officially get bluer. Over the course of the next month, two of the men who keep the KSR train on the tracks are moving to Louisville. Thomas Beisner and Drew Franklin are each joining me in Louisville as part of a KSR expansion that we could not be more pleased about announcing. Beisner is coming to Louisville to accept a position as the Producer of Kentucky Sports Television. He will be in charge of day to day production of that show, while also remaining with KSR and writing on the blog. Due to the Beisner move, Drew Franklin will now join KSR full-time and will be part of a Kentucky Triumvirate running the blog. Drew will be involved on the radio and television shows from time to time, but his primary work will be here on the blog where he will take more managerial responsibility. As part of the change, I will also be writing more on a day to day basis, including heading up our daily basketball coverage.

So what does that mean? Well KSR will now be a three-headed monster with Beisner, Drew and me all running the site on a daily basis. Will Lentz will remain as our Weekend and Podcast Editor (yes we promise the latter are returning), while all of the other writers will continue their contributions. Aaron Cordero from will continue his football in-depth coverage and we plan on also expanding our coverage of secondary UK sports in the year ahead. The addition of now three full-time KSR contributors means more coverage for the fans and a chance to expand our efforts into new arenas that you will see in the weeks to come.

We will also be adding a couple of new writers to the staff (announcements over the next 2 weeks) and are looking to create a team of UK student reporters to provide on-campus KSR coverage. These student reporters will attend press conferences, do “sideline reporting”, write features and give the “pulse of the campus” to KSR, by being our eyes and ears on the ground. If you are interested in applying to be one of the reporters, email us at [email protected] by Thursday, Aug 11. You must be a student at UK (undergrad or graduate) and have the ability to cover the team in your spare time. Journalism or blog experience is a plus, but not a requirement and anyone with an interest in photography should DEFINITELY highlight that as part of their application. We are looking for male and female reporters, so if you have an interest in sports, this is for you. We don’t need a resume, but simply a statement of why you are interested, what skills you may posses and an optional piece of writing if you so desire. Also, please include what times during the week you would be available for press conference attendance.

We will have many more KSR announcements to make in the coming weeks, including the long-awaited site design, the expansion of the radio show and other bits of positive news. But for now, join me in congratulating Beisner and Drew on their new gigs as we move KSR forward this season. The two of them have both earned their respective positions and KSR/KSTV will benefit greatly from their tremendous talents.

And KSR continues the Kentucky tradition of going from great to good to drunk managing the site.

This, as opposed to Cincy (which is a niney minute detour of the ‘Ville, no less, no more).

I love how people on here bash writers for grammar, content and personal life. Then hide behind computer handles and terrible sentence structure themselves. Comment sections on here are hilarious due to the fact it looks like a group of 3rd graders respond.
Capital letters, punctuation and correct spelling is allowed here. Congrats to the new positions for everyone and for the continued success of bringing UK information in the most ridiculous manor. #BBN

So is weekend editor a highly coveted position? I feel like that’s the graveyard shift. That should have been BTI’s position. Lentz’s over-certified.

Beisner’s greatest achievement will always be the errant tweet he sent
in the Fall of 2009 when he was alerting his lovely wife that he
had “crop dusted the whole area” in a department store.

    Loved it, Thomas.
    I still laugh about it.

Glad to have you back in KY.
