— In case you missed it in the post directly below this one, the University has announced that Joker Phillips will coach the final two games of the season. Phillips initially didn’t want to because he feared it would be a distraction to the players, but was swayed by the outpouring of kind sentiments he’s received over the past 24 hours. He will be available to the media tomorrow.
— One person that does seem interested in the Kentucky job is former Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer, who told the Courier-Journal’s Adam Himmelsbach that although he hasn’t had any conversations with anyone, he sees a lot of potential in the Kentucky program. Fulmer said that UK’s fan loyalty and resources make it an attractive job, along with the fact that they’re in the SEC. He was even respectful when asked about his history against UK, calling Commonwealth Stadium a “wild and a tough place to play.” Whether or not Mitch is considering Phil remains to be seen, but if he is, I’m going to have to go back on almost two decades of Fulmer jokes, and that’s going to be tough for me to do.
— Crazy coaching rumor of the day: Future150.com’s Garrett Tucker’s friend saw
Kentucky officials people wearing UK gear walking into the Alabama football offices to presumably talk to Kirby Smart. Make of this what you will. #grainofsalt
— You know it’s a strange day in UK land when there’s a basketball game at 8 p.m. and most of the news is about football. Alas, the Cats take on Transy in their second exhibition game in mere hours. Matt, Drew, and Ryan will be live from the food court outside Rupp Arena starting at 5:30 p.m. Eastern, followed by Matt and Oscar on the UK IMG Countdown to Tipoff Show. The game will be televised on Fox Sports South, and of course, we’ll be live blogging starting around 7:45 p.m.
— According to some of the team’s Instagram accounts, they will debut some new shoes tonight. From WCS:
— Get ready for Friday, baybee! Dickie V announced today that he is calling the Kentucky/Maryland game, as well as next Tuesday’s game against Duke in ATL. He’s pretty excited about it:

— Over at USA Today’s high school basketball site, Jason Jordan and Jim Halley put together the first Preseason American Family Insurance ALL-USA Team, consisting of the best 2013 recruits. Not surprisingly, the list includes some familiar names, including the Harrison Twins, who have already committed to the Cats, and top recruits Andrew Wiggins, Aaron Gordon and Julius Randle.
— Speaking of Julius, he’s got a new mixtape. Enjoy:
— On today’s show, Matt, Ryan and the gang talked about…what else? The search for a new football coach.
