Comic book Gilchrist on the cover of ESPN Rise

Comic book artist Alvin Lee turned Michael Gilchrist into a superhero for the latest issue of ESPN Rise. Gilchrist recently passed Austin Rivers as the number one player on the ESPN Rise Mr. Basketball tracker. Kentucky’s latest visitor, Shabazz Muhammad, is #4 on the ESPN Rise list. Not bad for a junior, huh? 2011 Cats Anthony Davis and Marquis Teague finish off the list at #6 and #7.
Gilchrist was one of four high school athletes (and the only basketball player) transformed into a comic book character for the magazine.
A description of Gilchrist’s superhero from Comics Alliance:
High school basketsportsball expert Michael Gilchrist features on the ESPN Rise cover. In what we tentatively designate as reality, Gilchrist “shoots hoop” as a “small forward” for St. Patrick’s High School in Somerdale, New Jersey. He’s 6’7″ tall, weighs 210 pounds and, according to ESPN.com, has 98 hit points. In Lee’s vision, Gilchrist has “badass kicks” and extendable limbs, which will come in handy whilst doing battle with Galactus in the basketball courtroom.
My only question is, can Super Gilchrist win SEC road games? That’s really all we need.

I stopped trusting their ranking system ever since they had John wall at #5 in his own class.
I like the design of his character. Appropriate, I would imagine.
THAT IS REALLY COOL! I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO SEE THE GREAT WILDCAT TROY MCKINLEY ON THAT COVER AS WELL! I WOULD GET A SUBSCRIPTION TO THE MAGAZINE THEN! BUT NEXT YEARS CLASS IS GOING TO BE LEGIT, REGARDLESS.
Sick…
#3 What the hell is your obsession with Troy McKinley? You scream about him in every single thread.
Anyone want to wager what a Super Jared Carter would look like? Superpower? Super hero name?
he went to Simon Kenton HS didn’t he … the Pioneers … the ‘real’ pioneers ?
Next year’s class is the greatest thus far in the history of the sport, from the pre-season vantage. I hope UK has 31 regular season games next year, so Kentucky will have the first-ever 40-and-0 season.
6- you get your 1000+ internets points
hahaha this is awesome
It would be nice if all our Freshman would come back next year to do work with our incoming freshman. I know its a pipe dream but I am still going to dream. We could possibly have a chance to win a few National Titles in a row if we could get everyone to stay until they graduate.
He’s probably a buddy with Troy McKinley and wants to wax his epeen, something similar to what everyone else is doing when posting.
Jared’s superhero name would be… “The O’Charley’s Recluse”?
5)JUST A HUGE FAN OF THE GREAT WILDCAT TROY MCKINLEY!
7)YES, YOU ARE CORRECT…
Ok if Knight stays he would go to the shooting guard position where he is
suppose to be. Teague would run the point, you would have Miller and
Gilchrist and anthony davis as the starters. then have liggins and
wiltjer and hopefully lamb off the bench and possibly lacey if he
commits. i’m telling you CAT FANS next year should be special.
If this doesn’t get you pumped, what will?
And the media marvels at why UK’s fans’ expectations mount year after year? I am excited about Gilchrist coming next year. He seems like he’s gonna be an amazing addition to our team.
Troy didn’t quite make the 200 point club during his time at UK…

#13 IS Troy McKinley
Is it a recruiting violation to accept commitments from comic book characters?
14 Special is an under statement.
Gilchrist is good enough to be the top NBA draft pick if he didn’t have to attend college for one year. He plays defense like spiderman and can score anytime he wants to…Get UK this year while you can because next year it will be like old times once again…
