Coach Stoops Speaks After Practice #10

The team huddles around their Head Coach after practice.

The team huddles around their Head Coach after practice.

Some Highlights

– Coach Stoops and his staff are in the process of finalizing the format for next Saturday’s Blue/White game. They will be mixing the teams up to give it a competitive game-like feel. The QBs will alternate between the two teams, with the starters being determined by a coin flip.

– Safeties/Special Teams Coach Bradley Dale Peveto recently said that part of the reason he signed on to coach at UK, was Coach Stoops strong emphasis on Special Teams. Stoops believes that you must be good in all 3 aspects of the game- offense, defense, and special teams- in order to be successful in the SEC. Instead of giving all of the Special Teams reps to the ‘scrubs’, expect to see position starters (like Marco Robinson and Raymond Sanders) getting game reps in various Special Teams’ packages.

– OLB Miles Simpson walked off the field today with the help crutches while wearing a boot on his right foot. Stoops’ discussed the need for depth at linebacker, but no direct comment on the condition of the potential starter at OLB.

– Tomorrow the Cats will scrimmage in their last ‘moving day’ before the Blue/White Spring finale. The players understand that they only get a few depth chart-moving opportunities- with the TEs and QBs especially- and are prepared to ‘gut it out’ before the last week of Spring ball.

Feel free to enjoy the entirety of Mark Stoops’ session with the media.

Wiggins has changed his mind 10 times already but with Alex starting at 3 and young were good. Maybe well implement the 3 towers next year, Randle Cauley Johnson

    1. Alot of people were on here claiming Randle wasn’t coming to UK too. See how that turned out? But with Alex coming back and Young’s and Randle’s versatility we are solid at the 3 with or without Wiggins.

Mark my words, walk on wide out Muhammad Saifullah will make an impact this season. With the lack of depth at WR, he is impressing practice with his speed and grit.

    Here is the transcript:

“Now boys, Louisville may beat us within an inch of our lives but will we quit? NO!

Now men, Teddy may throw for 800 yards. Will we quit? NEVER!

Now guys, Dom Brown might impale his cleat in our backs, but will we walk off the field? probably NOT!

    Go Cats!”

@9 – Swinging whistle is a new strategy. Stoops is practicing hypnotizing opposing coaches to call a bubble screen on every 3rd & 10.
