Showing yet another thing he could not have learned had he ended up at Louisville, former Wildcat Rajon Rondo withdrew from consideration for the US World Championship team citing 90s sitcom Family Matters. The removal of Rondo, who sat out during the team’s win over Spain, finalizes the Team USA roster and leaves Coach K and crew with the Chauncey Billups/Derrick Rose/Russell Westbrook option at point guard. Rondo admitted earlier yesterday that he felt he was on the bubble and that his DNP indicated such, so it’s unclear if he took his ball and went home or was given the “resign or we’re going to fire you” option. Either way, the dismissal means that Rondo will not get an all-expenses covered vacation to lovely Turkey, though he does avoid being a part of what might be the worst international roster since professionals began competing 18 years ago.
