Understand Cal wanting to look out for his buddy but what would qualify him to be able to say that Joker is a terrific football coach? I have been wondering what UK should do with Joker. Hopefully, he understands that he may not be HC qualified anywhere, and I don’t think he even showed the competency that he would be a OC. I could maybe see UK offering him recruiting coordinator position or some other lower level or PR type opportunity. We all wish Joker and family well but he should be in good financial shape.

Well, ain’t that nice? 33K per Week for 102 weeks. I’m no math major but with the buy-out I’m coming up with just under 700000 dollars per win. SEC wins are over 1000000 per win. Still feel for this ‘nice guy’ ? Mitch Must Go. Period.

Ol Joker made out pretty dam good $$$…I do not have too much sympathy for the man. I wish him the best…but holy crap…that kind of money for what he has done!

3 – do you think Barnhart can do your job better than you?

stick to remodeling kitchens, and let Mitch do his job.

#2 correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Joker take over a horrid offence from Ron Hudson and have one of the best offences in the country within 2 years. Joker was total fail as a HC. He done OK as a coordinator, yes he made a huge mistake against UT not having Cobb on the field, but his record as a OC speaks for itself. Remember the whole HCIW thing only occurred because Auburn and other top tier programs want Jokers services as OC.

Stop complaining. Barnhart is a great AD look at all the hires he has made. And guess what he fired Joker which had to be done. He didn’t really have a choice but to hire him 3 years ago so relax before you start jumping all over Mitch. You have no idea what he is going to bring in. Stop it.

Terrific person? Maybe. I don’t know the guy. Terrific football coach? The one thing he definitely is not.

Stop it. People calling for Mitch’s job are ignorant. He is the ATHLETIC DIRECTOR. Yes, he had a few hires that did not pan out, but stop being blind and look around you. The University of Kentucky athletic department is all around, one of the most successful in the country. For God’s sake, they narrowly missed winning the Capital One Cup a year ago. Every single program aside from football is better than it was prior to the hiring of Mitch. He runs the department with class and will correct this mistake. If you love UK, you should support Mitch. Success on the football field will come again. In the mean time, control yourselves and be thankful for everything else MB has given to this state and athletic program.

The biggest mistake in the whole mess was that Joker just hadn’t been the big boss at another school. It was bad that he followed a guy that did well, but it was worse that he’s never seemed ready to make the tough decisions and to implement a working system.

He’ll maybe get a shot somewhere else (like WKU if their coach gets poached), and maybe he’ll work his way back up to a decent program again.

    8) Yup. Even after the mess he’s made of the program the past few years, allowing it to slip back to the lowest of lows, he’ll still get another nice position this year or next. He’ll either take a lower level head coaching job or take a less blame-worthy position out of the public spotlight with the Bengals (Marvin wanted him a while back and they may lose some of their staff to other jobs even with the middling season they’re having) or even his friend Strong at Louisville or anywhere else he goes. That’d be a tough one since it’s a rival, and I’d hope he’d at least wait a year since he’s got plenty of money.

11- totally agree here. Mitch has done a great job as AD. People calling for his job are likely the same delusional bastards that will be mad when John Gruden or Urban Meyer or insert any HUGE name isn’t the next UK coach because they believe that is possible. They won’t ever be happy, always will find something to complain about.

Cal needs to stick to basketball if he really thinks joker can coach at all. As far as Mitch, I had always supported him, and he has done a pretty good job, but he lost my loyalty with his arrogant remark this weekend, and taking this long to see what a trainwreck Joker was as HC. Mitch put his foot in his mouth, and lost a lot of respect for that comment.

Even after all that has happened with our football program. I still think hiring Joker as head coach was the right choice. And giving him 3 years was a must. Hind sight is 20/20 and it’s clear Joker failed, but when you have a highly regarded coach in the family you have to take that chance when your not a top school. I don’t like what Mitch said this week and I think he needs to apologize just as he would make one of his coaches. But to say he needs to be fired is craziness. The man has raised EVERY sport even football. Brooks lead us to the most successful run in school history this was jokers fail not barnharts

Discretion is the highest part of valor.

Cal – If you truly had words of advice for Joker on what has to be a very difficult day for him – then Kudos to you sir. However, those kind words should be between you and him – not for you to share for the rest of the world.

Can’t you ever do anything without alerting the world?

Think about it. You lose your job and a colleague at the same place of employment wants to offer you condolences, encouragement and some kind words. That’s fine. Then you learn he’s shared with the world what he told you. Not cool.

23, I agree. I think Cal should have kept his comments between him and Joker. Same with Mitch going on and on with that stuff about his dear friend Joker. If I was Joker, I would be thinking I am pretty happy to be getting out of this pajama party of an athletic department, with all this warm, fuzzy, friendly feelings stuff, followed by the axe. It’s like high school girl friendships — You’re my friend. You did what? Now I am not talking to you anymore. Joker, I hope you can find a job with some guys who care more about winning than being all wrapped up in bro love.

8, 9, 11, 21 – I agree with all of you. Mitch is one of the most well-respected ADs in the country and these people want to get rid of him. Unbelievable.

Unfortunately this tiem I agree with 23 and 28. I know Cal is pretty narcissistic (you have to be in his position) but that was pretty patronizing towards Joker. Cal is usually pretty media savvy, so I’m surprised he allowed Dwayne Peevey to tweet this. The UK Football coach getting fired is not about you Cal.
