I have always believed that once you have had a particular job and have moved on, you then should no longer comment on the job from there forward. The same unspoken theory that says that ex-Presidents should refrain as much as possible from criticizing the current President applies in my mind to ex-coaches, AD, governors, CEOs. etc. You had your chance to do the job, now let someone else do it.
Thus I was disappointed this morning to see that former Transy alum, CM Newton has publically questioned the Gillispie hiring. I was very critical of Rick Pitino injecting himself into the hiring process and I think the same thing about this. Newton should be supportive of the current regime and while he isnt blasting the hire, questioning why Gillispie was hired instead of someone like John Pelphrey shows me that the CM era has, thankfully, passed. CM maybe Billy Gillispie is not the slam dunk hire of Hal Mumme or Bernadette Locke-Mattox, but why dont we give the guy a chance, whatcha say?
